Hi, I would like to have your advice on something. I am planning to display the busts of my characters (original art) for my dialogue.
However, I can't have a original art drawn for every NPC in the game, thus many NPCs have neither bust nor face to display.
Do you have any trick or advice to be able to identify which NPC is speaking?

there are several messaging script or plugins that allow the creation of a name-box.
Since you didn't tell us which maker you're using we can't point you to solutions for your maker however.

Alternatively, most makers have a face generator which would be able to be used as a placeholder (and depending on the art differences possibly even as a regular replacement).

I am using MV. I can't use the generator as my art style is too different and my game demo features mostly anthropomorphic animals.

I will look for the name-box plugins for MV, thanks.

A way to do it without any plugins would be like this.

and if you would rather use a plugin, this one would allow you to put the message box above the character's head sometimes. Perfect for a generic npc with no face.

Thanks a lot. I will experiment with these solutions.

"This game does look a bit plain, but, I'm sure this does not destroy the experience as a whole. Monsters fit your style of game-play, mapping looks crude but I'm sure you can make it better if you do a remake of Forgotten Eclipse"

I decided to add more witch elements.

Now we have wooden props, candles, pots, and potion bottles.
We also want to add herbs, kettles, fireplaces, etc.
