my way of making any meal gourmet is by sticking some parsley on top. somehow turns sainsbury's microwave curry into chicken breast in a rich masala sauce with warm rice and parsley seasoning

I had a father's day cook-a-thon, and none of it was healthy but it sure was tasty.

First up was the homemade Pizza

Homemade Pecan Pie

And because I don't even like Pecan Pie I made Churro Cheesecake Squares

Which might not look like much...but yum.

Just got back from Austin, Texas, last night. I had a lot of great food experiences there. I didn't really take many pictures on my trip, except at the zoo. I actually don't end up taking many pictures on my vacation. I'm not going to forget it. Meh.

But, I had a lot of food firsts in Austin. In fact, Austin has a very wide range of good food, likely because of the eclectic locals.

I ate at a proper ramen shop. I had only ever had your freeze dried college food ramen before.

I actually really liked it. And I really enjoyed eating a whole meal with only chopsticks. I've eaten with chopsticks many times but this was the first time I couldn't get a fork. Super. Serious. I also had something called mochi, which I guess is a Japanese ice cream made from rice. It had this really gummy-like texture, sort of like a marshmallow. Actually pretty enjoyable.

I ate somewhere called Torchy's Tacos. If you live in the Austin, Texas, area. Go here. It's awesome. I had tacos with deep fired avocado slices. Oh. My. God. Oh. My. God. One thing I did a lot of in Texas was eating tacos. And these were my favorite tacos.

We also got BBQ at Franklin's, which apparently is like. The. BBQ spot in Austin. So we're told. We got a couple pounds of beef brisket and went to town. I think that single meal probably aged me 10 years in terms of coronary health. I went into a deep food coma and like to pretend I spontaneously developed heart disease. But, it was absolutely delicious. Fall apart. Beef. Fat. Dripping. Adjectives.

Mochi is really tasty. If you can ever get any mango mochi, do it. Immediately. It is ridiculous.

Another Japanese snack I'm a huge fan of is anpan, which is a sweet roll usually filled with red bean paste. Its infinitely more delicious than it sounds.

I'll definitely look for both. I haven't eaten much Japanese food before but I'll try anything once, and so far I've liked everything!

This isn't exactly JAPANESE, but it's a Korean version of Mochi!

@Fuzzy. Well then. I'll just hold back all the pictures of lovely meals I've made recently. But, I can only describe it as bourbon meat candy. I think Epic Meal Time would be proud of me.

@Kanax The potato souffle looks excellent. Almost reminds me of Shepard's pie just glancing at the top. Which, mmm. Mmm. I really want to make one.

@Iron Croc That actually doesn't look very difficult at all. That's always to assumption I get when I think of foreign food for some reason. I think the only thing I'd have to go out of my way for is finding the glutinous rice flour.

@Celianna Irish stew is one of my favorites. I think Irish food tends to get underrated but it's so warm and comforting. The meatballs you made also look excellent. : O

Started a food blog... XD

https://lanthanumfoods.wordpress.com/

And my latest creation:

Vanilla Panna Cotta with crushed cones and dark chocolate drizzle

It's not as set as what I've seen on TV (those really gelatin looking panna cottas) but I do like how it turned out. I actually prefer this texture than a more gelatin-like panna cotta.

EDIT: Cup version

My wife and I worked together to make a Grilled Garlic Lime Chicken with Mango Salsa and brown rice, plus a salad with a Citrus Jalapeno vinaigrette. It was delicious.

No pictures though. I was stupid and didn't take pictures.

So I made a lasagna last night.  Bell peppers and onions in the meat sauce (homemade, BTW) gave a very sweet flavor.  Mmmmmm.

I don't have any good pictures of individual slices... Sorry. :(

And here's a bacon french bread pizza I  whipped up.   I made several for the fam and we all loved them. I apologize that it's so blurry. I tried my best.

BONUS:  Here is a pic of a cake I made awhile back to celebrate the full recovery of my dad.  It's a chocolate cake with a thick chocolate pudding filling (3 layer) with chocolate chips, and a whipped cream frosting.

He wanted all chocolate.  He ate almost half all by himself.   :3

I made a Chicken and Spaghetti Napolitana tonigt, it was great except that I overseasoned the pasta... Anyway, my first time to fry chicken fillets. Pictures would follow when I can.

@Iron Croc: those all look (and sound) good! Chocolate cake seems a little heavy on the chocolate though, I could never finish a slice.

@Celianna the chocolate desserts I make tend to be.... um.... really really chocolaty. :p   Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure!

(I developed a recipe for brownies that are so intensely chocolate one bite is all you need and you'll be passed out on a couch :D )

@Engr. that sounds good! I'd love to see some pics; I know you're a crazy adventurous cook too and I'm a big fan of your "deconstructed" series!

I made Irish Stew for the first time. It was goooood.

There is (was?) a dessert in the UK called "Death by Chocolate".  Just saying.  Maybe you still have some way to go if your guests are still leaving the table alive.
