@ksjp It's all in good fun. :D

I'm gonna try making something called Blondies next week. First time ever. I'll share pics (and if it went well, the recipe!)

Yeah, I know it is.  But if you want a really, really, really chocolaty dessert, try finding the recipe for 'Death by chocolate'.  I think you'd enjoy it.

I present to you all....
Chocolate Death Drops!

A deeply, intensely dark chocolate cookie that is as easy to make as it is delicious. The trick here is dipping them in granulated sugar before baking; they come out sparkling like little dark diamonds!

Makes 6.5 dozen (give or take)

1 1⁄2 cups butter (softened)
2 1⁄2 cups dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 eggs
4 cups unbleached flour
1⁄2 cup cocoa powder (heaping)
2 teaspoons baking soda
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄4 cup granulated sugar (for dipping)---------

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F Cream butter and brown sugar until very light and fluffy. Then add vanilla and eggs, then mix well.
  2. Add cocoa powder and carefully mix well.
  3. Add flour all at once, then the baking soda and salt. Mix well. (Dough will be stiff!).
  4. Drop by the tablespoonful onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. pat down slightly to form little patties.
  5. Dip one side of the patties into granulated sugar and swoosh around a little. The little patties will be very covered in sugar. Arrange them with a little space between them-they will expand a bit.
  6. Bake at 375 F for 12-14 minutes. (Every oven is different!) Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack or plate.
  7. Resist the urge to eat a lot at a time! Enjoy

I love food. I live for food!! This topic is dangerous for me, haha.

This is the cake I made for Christmas last year:

probably the most elaborate I've ever done. It's actually a chocolate cake on top of a vanilla custard tart. The green trees were improvised using a (failed) experiment melting green tea chocolate

Peach Chiffon Cakelets.  I don't have a griddle pan so they didn't come out all nice and golden brown and stuff.  Still bomb though.

Recently my mom and I have been trying 'weird' fruits that are a bit different from the normal apples and bananas. My favorite fruit is a bit uncommon -- the persimmon! So I figured we should try everything we can.

So far we have gotten to:

Custard apple - we may have waited too long to eat it, but it was VERY sweet. And like it's name, it had a custard-like consistency. I imagine you would have to do very little to turn it into a dessert. Personally, I wouldn't buy it again

Guava - I'm sure many have already had a guava, or at least tried guava-flavored drinks. But I had not. They were tiny and had the most wonderful fragrance... I couldn't wait to eat them! Unfortunately they tasted nothing like the scent. In fact, I could hardly call it a taste at all. It was slightly bitter. All around not a fruit I could enjoy at all.

Dragonfruit - I was surprised. It smelled nice and I thought it would have a strong flavor. It was very refreshing (sort of like a cucumber) and quite mild. It was slightly sweet in the middle. I also ate a piece with a bit of sugar to up the sweetness. I prefer it by itself though. If it weren't $6 - 7 at the store I would eat it all the time!

Now we have a horned melon and a starfruit sitting on the counter ripening. I hope they are good!!

Today, I made my first kitchen disaster that didn't taste very good... :(
It was to be a chocolate coconut cream cheese pie.   I made a plain coconut cream cheese pie and it was a smash hit! (I might just do that again, to be honest... )
It used coconut pudding mix, milk, a block of cream cheese, vanilla extract, stiffly whipped cream... and that's it.

The coconut pudding mix was very rare and isn't there anymore. So I used coconut milk with chocolate pudding (Next time I'll use vanilla), shredded coconut, vanilla, and cocoa powder.  TWO bricks of cream cheese replaced the one (bad idea without sugar)

The pie tasted like chocolate cheese... which, in theory sounds delightful! However, it tasted like UNSWEETENED chocolate cheese, with that gagging, disgusting fermented gym socks flavor... *GAG*

Next time I'll try something else...  I'll grab canned coconut CREAM (The natural thick cream that rises to the top of cans of coconut MILK), not to be confused for CREAM OF COCONUT (think of sweetened condensed milk, but made with coconut milk instead).   I think I'll just try to whip one can of coconut cream first to see if it'll actually whip. If it does, it'll replace the whipped cream next time I make the recipe. :) I might sweeten with sugar, too... top ice cream or fruit with it.

No pictures this time. Too embarrassed!

I make cakes... choc banana
Let's see 'em!

I could have sworn that I had posted in this topic some time ago... but maybe that was over at the VXAce forums in a similar topic.

Still, my all time favourite: Zucchini soup!

What do you need:

a couple of zucchinis obviously

get some vegetable stock, or like me, use those little blocks that are good for half a litre each.

onions

garlic

a bit of oil or butter

Around 2 litres if you make a full pot like me and are using those blocks

Spices, like pepper and salt.

Then:

Grab a soup pot

Chop up the onions, garlic and zucchini

Put the garlic and onions in the pot

Fry them a bit with the fatty substance of choice

When the onions have a nice glaze, add the zucchini

Fry them for a bit with the onions and garlic

Add the water

Cook until boiling

Add 4 of the blocks.

(if you're using premade stock add this instead of the water and blocks)

Once everything is nicely cooked, grab a hand blender (don't know what a "staafmixer" is in English)

and go prrrrrrrrrrrt on everything

And add spices to your liking.

Massive foodie, which isn't tough when your father is in the food biz.

When I was abroad a year or so ago, I would make tons of home-made curry of various sorts- generally Thai. Massaman, Green, Red, Yellow- the works. A lot of hardwork went into the process, but it was ultimately worth it for the tastiness.

Aside from that, my favorite cuisines are:

- Italian or Spanish
- Malaysian
- Turkish

Following my fruit post... Does anyone enjoy papaya?

We finally tried it and found it terrible. Happy to report that starfruit is delicious though.

Booooooooooooooo! Nobody sharing pics! :p

Anyway, here is my Sourdough Starter, renamed officially to "The Cluster".

Looks like it's ready!  Time to make some pizza dough!  Maybe I'll make a burger ranch pizza... or one with pepperoni and sassages <3

If you want pictures I'll have to dig into some old stuff but here are some of my favorite things  to make. Incidentally, they are all really easy. (+ a cute onigiri my mom made)
