What I'm trying to do is have the camera scroll above the player, but move with the player normally. (Essentially just changing the camera position)

(I'm okay with using scripts! I just haven't been able to find any...)

As far as I know this cannot be done without a script.

Have you looked at Source's Enhanced Camera script? It's been recovered after his site went down, and can be found here.

I went ahead and messed around with that, and it seems like when I set the camera-- it stays in that one position. After I move a few steps it resets back to the center view. I need the camera to move when the player moves & stop when the player stops

I must admit, I'm now a little confused. What you are describing - the camera to move when the player moves and stop when the player stops - is the default behaviour of the camera. It should never do anything else, unless you tell it to. Similarly, if I set the camera on the player using the script, that is exactly what it does. I use this when I have had the camera 'looking' at something else, or scrolling the map in some way. My script call (in this instance taking 300 frames to get back to the player) is:
Code:
ms_pro_cam_str(38)
ms_pro_cam_wait_for_scrolling
ms_pro_cam_center_at_char(-1, 300)
ms_pro_cam_wait_for_scrolling
ms_pro_cam_str(1)
So what exactly do you mean by "have the camera scroll above the player"? Where is it scrolling to that's away from the player? How are you doing that? How are you getting it back to the player?

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
