hey so i was wondering if damage formulas can be in negetive numbers for example if you had a skill that does more damage the slower you are so i have a atk formula that goes like this

0 + a.atk * 3.5 - a.agi * -8.5 - b.def * 1.0

so will the game actually check how low the agi is doing damage calculation? or will something else happen?

no negative possible, that's why you have to select the damage type for recovering.

are you sure that neagtive doesn't work?

As far as I'm concerned, RPG Maker (i am using MV) evaluates the damage formula as a code, meaning u can use if else statements and custom codes.

You coud just say var i = (target.agi) * (-1); and operate with that value, couldn't you?

doesn't work that way, because then the enemy would heal you if your defense is greater than his attack (remember 4*a.atk - 2*b.def?)

You can use negative numbers inside the formula, but if the total result is negative it will be changed to zero after the damage evaluation is complete.

If the original question was about using agi inside the formula, then yes, you can use anything inside it (there are even commands to add states or if conditions inside the formula), but the final result after the formula is executed will always be positive or zero.

now seems like the worst time for me to need a better computer with how much stuff is costing. that and I don't thing there's much else I can do to make MV run any better with what I have.
Sigh... to have some variety in this weather. More than just sun and rain and wind and thunder.
In the meantime, I've discovered that I'm slowly becoming fatigued from the many sleepless nights my neighbors cause. Or at least their dogs. Always barking at something.
I might need a day to just sleep and recharge.
After the initial success with one event, I set up four different events on the same map to detect who is in which slot in my current party, and fortunately it managed to work as intended, with the events changing image to match the party members even as I swapped their positions around in formation. This will be a great tool for immersive scene design.
