I wonder if someone who can't make art, music, write good stories, or write script can get a team. From what I have seen, most people who don't have these skills are the one putting all things together, but usually they are also the ones who recruit others. I need you guys' insight on this matter. I know the basic of using rpg maker like eventing, mapping, using plugin, etc

You probably could, the forum for that is Project Recruitment. Note that is for unpaid work only though, so you'd be looking for volunteers.

Sadly we don't allow you to offer royalites based on sales here for a team, for legal reasons.

Thanks for the response. I wanna ask when the recruitment post says they need programmer. Do they mean they need someone who can use the engine or someone who can write script in Javascript?

I cant map, or make great stories, but I need to check for grammar and readable story
for the human eyes, so it will be right, but I do my best to do it on my own, but it take longer.

if you have a team, you can speed up the process in many ways as long you keep an
eye on those stuff and it fit nicely. (depending on the roles you giving them.

You probably should ask the one who posted that, as sadly we'd not know.

Building a team is difficult because of the trust issues invovled, not because of any skill or ability either missing or not.

The problem is that no one wants to work for a project that will fail - and there are a lot of failed projects.
Just imagine: an artist works for months on a game project, and then the team desintegrates because the team lead vanishes, and all that work was for nothing as it can't be used anywhere else.

the only successfull teams are either good friends (and that means knowing eachother for years and outside a single internet forum) or with people who have proven that they are capable of finishing a game by having that game out and advertised.

There have been successfull team projects in the past, but getting people to trust you as a new developer to be able to fulfill your promises is unlikely.

depends what you are good at, if you are good at mapping, show examples, if you good
in eventing, show an example or gif for that one etc.

I got maps in mind, but to work it out is harder, specially to make good looking maps,
and dungeons I need to work out :) but when i'm busy in RL, it gets behind.

but it should fit as well.

camtasia is a nice one to record, but there are others as well, Movavi,
both are record and editing software, bandicam for record only (watermarked)
and paid without, but there might be more, depends what you exacly look for
as a record part.

everyone has it's own needs for that.

but nice map btw :)

Most free recorders will give you a low fps rate which will make your video seem choppy at times. I used to use Faststone. I'm not sure if it's still free to use but you could get a 25 fps on it.

I don't have to record that much, only for making gifs of my game sometimes so I haven't invested in a paid screen recorder software. I use this one here which is free and has no watermark ^^

I dont want to make a team, but join one.
that difference doesn't matter, my answer applies to both cases.
The rest of the team has to trust you that you will do the parts you promised to do and not vanish when they're halfway through the project.
It is easier to replace a team member than the team leader, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the team wants to go through the process every other week, explaining their plans again and again.

If it is like that, then maybe I will just forget about joining a team, and try to make a completed game by myself I suppose

I think it would be better for you to keep working on your game for the time being and gain some new skills or improve on your existing ones before joining a team. You're pretty new so I think that will be for the best. I've been fiddling around with RM for over three years and still can't really gain the courage to join a team even though I want to :") I feel like I will slow people down ^^;

Edit: I didn't want to sound demotivating though 0_0 You should still post in project recruitment if you want to. There are still skills you can use that don't require much experience in game development. Maybe you can help write the story or something similar.

yes and no.

what I wrote above is if the purpose of the team is to create a complete game, and you're willing to push for that.
however if it is just to gain some experience and you're a group willing to handle failure to gain some experience, then you might try to make a team.

Not investing everything to get a team project completed is almost a guarantee for falure, but if all of you are new to game developing that will give you invaluable experience in what not to do when trying teamwork or commissions.

I still remember the very first picture I ever commissioned about thirty years ago - it had to go through a doube language translation (someone worked as a handler for a group of chinese artists) and the first WIP was technically following my description while being absolutely useless due to several missed references.
You can only learn how to avoid such pitfalls by trying and practice. But you need to know thata beginner's team project will fail sooner or later before you invest too much into it.

( i had to edit my first post)
well i think the safest way to team up without making a Team is to trade Work - Parts..
For Example:
If I can code Simple Plugins ,but i cant make Art at all..
( and i need some Artwork)..
-Than i could try to find someone who needs help in building a simple Plugin and is able to do the Artwork which i need..

In such cases people can still act wrong ,but since its just one trade the risk is low and both sides will continue their projects.

Well, If you wanna get feel how gamedev team works, I suggest you join a team for any gamejam, usually, gamejam has a small scope, clear theme and target of the deadline. check for this forum or itch.io sometimes.

I'd make a joke about the post office, but I'm afraid you won't get it.
I've been on a really good streak lately of working on my game for at least a little bit each day. Even if I only complete one small task, it is still a much better pace than what I was maintaining previously!
I haven't worked on my game for a couple of weeks. Decided to get some things done this evening and found that my characters won't hop over to their targets to attack (Battlecore) but only when using a weapon that is a type with IDs 3 and anything above 6 in the database. Wasn't doing this before my break. Yeah, I'm done game devving. I won't allow another hobby to waste my precious time like this.
Always a good feeling when someone turns your design into an actual sprite and it looks like how it was intended :)
