Can I use DLC musics for a non RPG-Maker project ?

Hi,


I'm currently using the RPG Maker MV's DLC for one of my games, and I've thinked to create another one, which do things I can't do with RPG Maker MV (complex scripting, sockets communication, a sort of MMORPG).


I would know if I can use the DLC's musics for my project, which doesn't use the RPG Maker engine ? That's a free project, with no payment and no subscription.

It depends on the specific terms-of-use/EULA of the music DLC. In most cases (especialy the art packs) you'll need a more expensive non-RM-licence that can be purchased on Game Dev Fort: https://gamedevfort.com/store


However, I know that in some cases the store had sold music with full licence in the past, I just don't know if that is the case any longer or if all the full licences were moved to GDF.


You have to read the EULA included with your DLC to learn which one it is.

Sorry I was wrong, I'm talking about the default musics of RPG Maker MV, that is in the BaseResource\audio\bgm folder. I found into very good soundtracks, like A Hero's return.

No, the RTP cannot be used outside a RM project.


With some of the other artists and musician, Degica had made contracts that allow such a use if paid for, but the RTP is licenced by Enterbrain/Kadokawa, and to my knowledge there has only been one single case of allowing legal use outside the RMs, and that test went wrong for EB. So they haven't allowed outside use of RTP resources after that...
