Lately I've been making maps in a program called Tiled that I am then exporting into Unity. I'd really like to use some of the tile sets that I bought for RPG Maker VX Ace, but they don't seem to work correctly outside of RPG Maker. Notably, I can't figure out how to make walls and ceilings blend together. This is what I mean:

I'm not sure how RPG Maker's tilesets work, but they seem to be different from other tiles I've found elsewhere. They do seem to be in PNG format, though, so I figure I must just not know what I'm doing.

Unless you bought the packs at Game Dev Fort and paid the higher price for a special licence, then you cannot use any DLC outside of RPGMaker.  So Unity is out.  That is a non-negotiable part of the EULA.

So the answer to your question is an emphatic No.

That's unfortunate.

I'm mainly using Unity for C# scripting. I'm guessing that is a no go in RPG Maker as well?

The engines XP, VX and VX Ace use different forms of Ruby, MV uses JavaScript.  Nothing uses C#

Well, if it helps, C# isn't a far leap from Java, and Javascript's syntax was heavily based on that of Java. I don't think it would be too hard to adapt to using Javascript.

@Nyakitty you need to understand some facts.

1] RTP stock assets are for RPG Maker series only and you can not use them with other programs, like Unity.

2] As @ksjp17 already said, you can go to gamedevfort and buy assets from there. There are licenses that allow you to use assets outside the scope of "RPG Maker only". But actually I think Gamedevfort shop is out of order, at least for me. It shows nothing.

3] Unity has NOTHING to do with RPG Maker.

4] Just for the record, Unity has its own asset store.

5] Owning assets licensed to RPG Maker only and using them in Unity is illegal. Just saying.

As for your question on tiles, it's not as simple as it looks. Those you use and can see, are most autotiles, that's why you got trouble.

PS: Are you on a VM or something?

For the record, you can use Tiled to make maps with the RPG Maker resources. But those maps, as already stated, must be used in RM engines.

Just a tip if you do decide ever to use Tiled for maps in RM engines, you probably want to set your grid for the autotiles to 16x16 as they have a bit of a different breakdown that works in 16x16 pieces, for things like the corners and such.

Official answer: no you cannot use RPG Maker's resource packs outside of RPG Maker unless you bought the non-RM license for it. You could buy the non-RM license over at GameDevFort, but unfortunately GameDevFort has been shut down, so you are unable to buy a license to use the resources in different engines at the moment. Degica is looking for a way to sell those licenses again.

So pretty much, at the moment there's no way to buy the non-RM license, and therefor, you are not allowed to use those resources in any other game engine besides RPG Maker. What you're doing right now goes against our EULA, so please refrain from doing so.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
