There are some people/group developing Multiplayer/Online plugins for RPG Maker MV. They are promising, but might take a very long time and a lot of work to do before all features in RPG Maker (especially Multiplayer Battles) are supported.
For example, here is a plugin about it: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/neldersons-mv-online-core.79938/
Personally, I don't recommend you to use RPG Maker Engines to create a Multiplayer/Online game.

In addition to above, there's also the often forgotten cost of server hosting. Something common like $30 a month for a low tier hosting service capable of supporting a modest amount of players adds up to a frightening $360 a year.
And they absolutely do want to lock you into a contract.

It's a sticky business!

As they said, RPG Maker is not a recommended tool for creating online games. However, if you talk about local multiplayer - two controls, for example - it can be done on anyone. By events or by code, in the way that you find easier. Surely the work is less than programming an online game, but it's still a little work.

It is very hard to come by without reworking the battle manager, the input module, and the map scene.
that, IF at all the input module can be set to take input from multiple controllers, and by input module I mean the engine.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
