So, I bought the RPG Maker VX Ace Time Fantasy DLC pack today in the sale.

I read the EULA, but found myself a little confused when I came across this:

"The resources in Time Fantasy are created for use in game development only, using RPG Maker MV. Alternatively, you may also use these materials with other RPG Makers, as long as you have a valid and legal license for both engines. Use in other game development software is at the discretion of the artist. Please refer to the ReadMe document accompanying this pack for details."

I use VX Ace, so will I need to buy MV to use this DLC legally? Or did I misunderstand the sentence?

Thanks!

You must legally own RPG Maker MV to use this DLC. You can use it in VX Ace as long as you legally own MV.

As long as you have the license for the engines and the dlc, you can use them in any RPG Maker engine.

So...I can use them in any engine as long as I've paid for it?

Yep! As long as you also have MV.

You can use them in any other RPG Maker. Unless you bought an extended license, you can't use them in another engine. E.g. Game Maker, Construct, etc. Extended licenses are only available for some packs.

I think this should better be answered officially by @Lunarea, because there are a lot of legal details that should be considered here - wording in legalese is not the same as wording in english.

You bought it on steam for Ace?  It sounds like a line left in on accident then, since requiring MV would be bait and switch, and that's not how Degica does things.  Most likely the line was supposed to say Ace there but got left in from the MV version.  You'll want to get a hold of Lunarea or one of the other degica employees to get that sorted out, or just wait a bit and see if one of them stops by.

It's being handled, and the license will be updated.

There is a license that's specific to MV only, but it should not be in the Ace DLC on Steam. Apologies for the confusion and thank you for reporting it. :)
