Cannot Install MV

I have tried to download the trial for MV several times now and while it does download, it will not install on my laptop. I have tried to run the install file in compatibility mode for Windows 8, 7 and XP Service Pack 3, as well as running it as administrator and with higher graphics (I've tried every troubleshooter option, in all of their variations.)

It goes through all the steps of installing without a problem and while it does take up hard drive space, it does not create a folder, desktop, or start menu icon. I have tried installing it in Program Files/(x86), Program Files and just my C drive. I have tried to install it both from my downloads folder and from my flash drive. No matter what I save it as, or where I install it, I am not able to use it. Every time, no matter what I attempt, it will not install.

It is a new laptop. I'm running Windows 8.1, I've got 4 gigs of RAM and 404 gigs free on my hard drive. It's 64 bit, for whatever that matters.

I've got an AMD A6-6310  APU processor with a Radeon R4 for graphics (1.80 ghz)

For what it matters, it's an HP 15 notebook.

As an aside: no other RPG Maker will install on it either. (XP, VX and VXA trials were downloaded and tested as well- yes, I did remember to get the RTP for each when I tried to install them.) The same thing happens with them as with MV, regardless of the compatibility changes I try.

I do know that I had no problem running Ace on my old laptop a few months ago, but that was running Windows 7.

Any ideas why I can't run MV on this computer, or maybe how to make it install and run?

Thank you for reading this.

Thank you for that answer! I just hunted through my hard drive again. It's not there; not as Kadakowa or anything else (it's just the same folders that were there before I tried to install.) I've also tried changing the name to something silly (KittyfootsRPGThing) to make it even more noticeable- and nothing.

Given that it takes up hard drive space, it must be on the computer somewhere. Can you perform a system-wide search for it?

I have; it shows up in a section of the hard drive that I have no access to. Though I installed it in Program Files (x86) it only shows up in C:\VTRoot\HarddiskVolume4\Program Files (x86)

I have no access to that path, even though mine is the only account, as well as being the administrative one with full permissions.

It will not install elsewhere.

Edit: I figured out how to access that path, but it acts like everything in the RPG Maker MV folder does not exist.

Hang on, are you installing on an external or trying to install on the internal?

Does this occur with any other programs?

When you select program files x86, can you select the prefix or the full path of where you want it installed (not just program files or whatever, but also including the C bit and everything after)

RMMV
Please check any background program that has any form of survaillance on programs installed - antivirus, firewall, "speed optimizers", parental controls, decrypter/encrypter, user restriction controls and so on.

It sounds as if one of your programs falsely assumes that RMMV is malware and moves it into a quarantine or restricted area, and you need to find out which one it is to whitelist RMMV.

EDIT:

A simple search for VTROOT shows that it is your antivirus program preventing you from installing RMMV.

This user didn't post his solution, but you can continue to search for it:

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
