Cannot leave a store with vxAce

 I am following the tutorial by Kelsper for VX Ace on my windows 7.

 I made the store that he mentions on page 29 and then went to try it.

 It appears that it is missing a script to ask if you want to make another purchase to give you a way out of the store.

 The only way I have found to leave is to close the game.

 Can someone find me a script or a solution to this problem?

I may have done it wrong and put it in the wrong place. I think in the sequence before this I may have done something wrong.

You do know that door events aren't two way, right? You have to do one for in and out.

And you still haven't provided us with a screenshot of your event. I don't care what tutorial you're following, please show us your event. We can figure out what's going on without the tutorial. So take a screenshot of your event (the entire window).

Thanks. I always wondered how that worked.

 It may take awhile to get the shot. I am watching my son sleep upstairs and the computer is downstairs.

 I tried to download the program on my netbook but the screen resolution will only go to 1024X600 so the program wouldn't run after i downloaded it.

 If I may, I am wondering which is better as I am using demos right now. I noticed that IG will make other types of games too.

 Too many choices. Which is best???

It depends on what type of game you want to make. For anything classic RPG-based, it's either Ace (especially if you want different skills, items, classes - everything that is in the database) or XP (for some people the mapping there is better).
IG-Maker is better for action-based games.


In the case of an Action-RPG it's a toss-up. Ace has scripts to turn it into an action-RPG, but those are difficult to set up. IG-Maker is lacking the classical RPG-Parts and you would have a similiar heavy workload to get every option of Ace into it.


The VX (non-Ace) maker is basically a step between that can't be recommended if you can go to ace - it's lacking the improved database of Ace, but had already left the mapping functions of XP, so for many people it's inferior to both.

 The attachment is the screens I get when I make a purchase.

 The first one is after I answer the question about if I wqant to make a purchase.

 The second one is the option to purchase which I made the purchase using the Enter button.

 The third one is after I push Enter and made the purchase.

 The screen will only let me change what item I want to purchase and nothing else.

 The Enter button will not work at this time and I cannot get back to the top part of the screen to select Buy, Sell or cancel.

 If that could be done I could choose cancel and then be able to go on with the game.

 This is basically my problem.

 Also, Thanks for the information on the programs. I have been trying to decide which program to purchase.

Did you change the keyboard configuration of your game?


Cancel is usually mapped to ESC and the X-Key, so both of those keys should be able to get you back.

 Thank you. It was the X key that I needed to know about. The games in the tutorials do not have a key index so I didn't know about that.

 I am used to other games where you are asked if you want anything else and then if you answer no it will exit the store.

 This was what I needed to continue the tutorial.
