I cannot see images in threads or conversations. I only see .
Tested it in chrome and firefox.
This is pretty common. Usually refreshing the page or rightclicking and/or opening the picture in a new page helps.
I never encountered this issue before. I also tested this in two different browsers. Refreshing did not help.
While opening the picture in another tab could fix this, this only works if the image is actually provided by a link and not directly uploaded to the forums. In the latter case, I cannot open it in a different tab.
Ive had this from the beginning (over a year now) so guess im just unlucky I guess. Its a minor annoyence to me but usually I can get it to show up eventually (Chrome user btw).
Hmm for me with the ones directly uploaden to the forum refreshing usually does the trick (though Sometimes after multiple tries).
But if they can fix it that would be nice
it happen to me alot, some works, some does not, sometimes non of them, but works when right click -> open image in new tab.
I keep my system pretty much up to date.
it might be or not be your browser, can be server related, if they change something, so the websites connected to that server as well.
but its probably something you cant do nothing about atm D:
I can generally right-click on the tag and Open in New Window, and the image will open. Not really sure what causes it.
The images are inside a conversation. If I try to open them in a new tab, it will show me an error about not having permissions for this action.
depends if its uploaded directly or throug a hosting, through hosting can mean its only for private (noone can open it)
or they deleted it or you must be registered to see it.
but right click is the only way posible though. mostly...
This has happened to me a few times but not enough to warrant a post. I assumed it was just a bad page load and a refresh fixes it. Again though, it has not happened a lot for me. I'm surprised to see so many have this issue, I'll be following this post to see if anyone has a solution.
Scriptblock or adblock addon, maybe?
Does it still happen with both browsers in private mode? (Ctrl-Shift-P in Firefox, Ctrl-Shift-N in Chrome)
it happen at least in all browsers I use (chrome, comodo dragon, comodo icedragon, firefox and opera.
even the standard explore (which I hate though)
and most forums/website has its issue without addblock.
this is probably not something you can solve that easely though.
Turning off addons did not help. Using private mode did not work either. Problems still persists.
Tested with firefox and chromium.
I've seen this occur if the poster uploaded the image in IE or other discontinued browsers. There's little you can do to fix that except get the user to reupload the image in Firefox.
Usually though that is only with threads made before we changed forum software that I've seen it. For newer threads it occurs if I use IE11 to access the forums (some computers here still have it), but changing to Firefox fixes it.
I think I've seen similar things happening other sites with images that were updated/uploaded like around 5 to 10+ years old ago (usually). (And this doesn't only occur with images, embedded audios in some cases are affected. (basically they become unplayable even though the player shows there's audio. It just won't play no matter how many times you hit play or which browsers you use.)) I think this also occur when site hosts updates software but the site owners/posters didn't update their media by reuploading. That does happen with old posts in other forums (where the OP no longer keeps watch of their posts) that updated their softwares so I'm assuming that may also be the case here with some old posts.
Bunch of peoples game images and screenshots show as blurry to me too. Photbucket mainly.
I'm suspecting it's partly Photobucket's fault then. They've been trying to shove premium into everyone's faces for a long while. They may reduce quality of full images in order to shove premium to people. (I don't know. I hadn't seen many images hosted on Photobucket these days and I hadn't cared for Photobucket in years since they did that forced premium thing...) Some images from older posts here may still be hosted on Photobucket because they're no longer updated by their OPs. But newer posts usually aren't hosted on Photobucket and don't exhibit issues like this unless they're using a low-quality hosting service. But either way, let's see what staffs have to say.
