Hi,
I downloaded RPG Maker XP yesterday because I was interested in trying to make a commercial quality game. I'm having a little trouble, though.
For one thing, I know that it's possible to create intro cutscenes because a demo game I downloaded had them, but the tutorials I've watched are apparently out of date. I couldn't find the "set player position" option they talk about in the videos, and I tried to just copy someone else's code to see if that would work, but there's also no option I've found that allows you to just type in your own code. You have to use the prompt options or rely on little glitches that allow your comments to become commands (it doesn't work with every command).
I think at this point I would be comfortable just following a good old-fashioned step-by-step tutorial that teaches me the in's and out's of the game maker by having me create a couple of demo games. I love the program, but I hate getting stuck and not knowing how to get events to do what I want them to do.
Can someone help?
