Can't find Regions

I have watched many videos on people using the regions tab in the upper left hand corner of their window but when I go to my game I am missing it and I think two other icons. I have looked throughout the database and everywhere but I can not find the regions button, can anyone help me please?

On mine, I from the red X all the way to pencil icon, I do not have those icons there and on mine I have the "passage settings" icon there and i don't even see that on the image I shared.

No idea what's causing this and you may want to show us a screenshot.

However, you don't need these icons to access the Events or Regions layer.  Use the "Mode" menu at the top of the screen (it's after File and Edit).

Do you have the full version, a trial, or Lite? I don't know if it makes a difference, but that's all I can think of. Where did you buy/download it from?

I do not have those icons there and on mine I have the "passage settings" icon there and i don't even see that on the image I shared.

"Passage Settings" is a button on RPG Maker VX - and VX doesn't have regions.
RMVX and RMVX Ace are two different programs, and you seem to have the older VX instead the Ace version, that's why it looks different.

Do you have the full version, a trial, or Lite? I don't know if it makes a difference, but that's all I can think of. Where did you buy/download it from?

I had the demo for a long time and it eventually expired. Then I clicked on the demo icon and clicked buy full version. After I entered my debit card info it gave me my activation key and I activated it from my demo.I remember on the demo version it had regions but now I can't find it. Here is a screenshot.



Click on it to enlarge. Even when I scroll over the mode setting, it only gives me passage settings, map, and events.

That is definitely VX, not VXAce.  If you look at the top where it gives the name of your project 'Assassin Test' it even tells you that it is VX.

 Here is a screenie of my editor for comparison.  You can see top left corner it says VXAce

So the engine you have is performing as it is supposed to.  

The question then becomes - how did you get VX when you thought you were buying VXAce, and is there anything that can be done about it?  That is a question for the forum staff only, I think.

You have RPG Maker VX, not VX Ace. In VX you can set Areas, not regions. They're not as custom as you can do in VX Ace, but you can still set them. Right click on the map you want to create an Area in, and then select New Area. Then you can fill it out.

I really don't know why I have VX and not ACE because i had the demo for ace and bought it from the demo so I don't see why I was given vx. 

I just sent a mod a private message about this.

I suspect you had the demo for both, both expired, and you opened VX and clicked on the Buy Now button in VX.


I have replied to your PM. As soon as you get back to me I'll give all the extra info to the admins and they can look into it for you.


There's no way you could have the Ace demo and ended up with the full version of VX, unless you had both demos and activated the wrong one, or redownloaded after paying. The Ace demo cannot possibly turn into the VX full version.
