Hey all. Just made the swap from VXA to MV :)

So, in a fresh project, I've decided to tinker with Yanfly's plugins since I've always loved his work. The very first one (and crucial to my project!) is Weapon Animations, to enable custom weapon sprite sheets for SV.

For reference, the plugin link:
http://yanfly.moe/2016/01/28/yep-63-weapon-animation/

I've followed the directions, I think. Set the filepath in the parameters to img/weapons/ and created the folder, and stuck my custom weapon in there. The file is just Sword.png, that I'm testing with.

Here's the notetag box of my weapon:

I have the right weapon equipped on the character I'm test-battling with. I poked around the forums and the youtube comments on his video, seems a lot of people are having this issue and can't find a resolution.

I'm not running any other plugins, either. The battler is still whipping out the default sword (which is set under Database>System>(SV)Attack Motions). When I change it to "none", he does bare handed attacks. It seems to me that the default motions are not being overridden by the plugin.

I believe you need to have his equipment core installed in order to use this plugin.

It isn't listed as a prerequisite, but I tried it with the Equipment Core running (above the Weapon Animation plugin in the manager) as well since I posted this, no dice. Also tried it with his Core Engine running above all the rest of it (even though that's stated as not being required, might as well try...) also no dice.

It may be that your using the name sword when that's the original weapon sheet name. Try naming your file something else like Sword1 and see if it works.

Gave it a shot with a bunch of different names, no luck with that either!

Hmm it seems like that was the only thing wrong looking at what you wrote. I'm assume you probably did this but just in case, when you renamed the file you did change the tag to match it like <Weapon Image: Sword1> right? Other than that it sounds like it should be working for you.

The files are in the weapons folder right? not a file within the folder?

Yep, changed the tag when I changed the file name. I've tried notetagging the actor as well, just in case, and that didn't work either!

.....Okay. I just closed and reopened MV again and this time it worked. Huh. Thanks guys, NO idea what the problem was, but restarting the program a second time seems to have kicked it into gear!

Sweet, happy to hear that I was wracking my brain over this one. I thought it looked like you were doing it right.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
