Can't use certain item icon IDs???

For some reason I'm not being able to assign certain icons to items. It seems like the icon sheet can't use icons with IDs higher than a certain number. Has anyone else had this happen?

I try to change the icon for an item in the database and it changes the icon ID, but the icon itself stays blank.

Hard to say but are you editing the right file? It needs to be the one in your projects file that's in the documents folder. There could be a few other locations where you can find the similar file but editing those wouldn't change the one showing in your project.

In the database you can change the icon associated with different items. I am able to change the item's icon ID, but the image stays blank. I'm doing everything through the RPG Maker MV program and I'm using a custom icon sheet that I made. The icon sheet is in the correct dimensions. I'm wondering if MV simply doesn't want to use icon IDs higher than like 1279.

From what I have read there is no limit to length of the icon sheet just a limit to width. But I couldn't find anything about sheets over 1k icons. There could be some sort of bug there.

I noticed that the stock MV icon sheet is pretty dang small...

Yeah it's a good thing we can increase it I really hope there isn't some limit though I'm at almost 600 icons and will need many more myself.

I'm using a sheet with over 1600 icons in it fine, with skills and items able to use any icon on the sheet.

Insure that your icon sheet is saved in the correct location. Close your database, save your project, and then re-open it. I have found that if I edit the icon sheet and add icons to it while I have the database screen opened, the database isn't able to see the added icons until it has been closed and then opened again.

The weird thing is that the icons show up in the database but when I choose them, it doesn't show the icon on the item, but it does change the icon ID number. It's only doing this on the lowest row of icons, which makes it even weirder.

then either that row of icons is somehow damaged, or your editor is damaged (need to reinstall) or your computer is working at the limit of its RAM.

Because yes, the iconsheet needs to be completely loaded to work, and if you don't have enough RAM left at that moment (too many programs in the background, or too small free space on HDD for virtuel RAM) then part of the sheet might be lost.

Hmm...this is a project I converted over from ACE a while back. Maybe that has something to do with it? I'll try to reinstall MV and see if that fixes it...

depending on how you did it, yes that couldbe - try to use the iconsheet in a new, pure MV project first before doing the reinstall.

However, most reported problems with conversions were from double conversions VX->VXA->MV, because the VX-VXA conversion created data that has nothing to do with later versions (there was a big change in the database from VX to VXA but VXA and MV have an almost identical database)

Ok, I've reinstalled RPG Maker MV and it still isn't working...I'll test it out with some other icon sheets and see if they are able to go past 1279.

I also tried it out with another icon set and it still won't use icons with ID's over 1279.

you open any of the core - js files with a text editor and read the number at the end of the title line
