Cardfight Vanguard is the latest TCG(Trading Card Game) on the market with booming sales all across the world. A work created by the combined efforts Arika Ito(The creator if the yugioh R manga and Satoshi Nakamura (the creator of Duel Masters) along with the president of the Trading Card Company Bushiroad Takaaki Kidani came a quite interesting card game indeed.

On July 2010, an anime was created with the help of  by TMS Entertainment  under supervision of Hatsuki Tsuji. The series began airing in Japan at the beginning on January 8, 2011. With the game most likely going to be another card game most likely this wasn't suppose to become this popular, but in 2012 after one year the anime's release the game become known world wide, however, the game sadly is not being advertised in the US but does ave an official youtube channel for showing off the english dub with is currently playing on cartoon network in Singapore.

The cards are released in their respective regions based on the progress of the anime. With thousands of cards already made an a world championships being made in such a short amount of time outside of America this is one of the biggest card games played in the world. the not so much knowing of this for america is like I said there are no advertisements for America, but there are tournaments held in the U.S. which are huge if you go to one. As of this year an official Team League was created along side a single player league to promote the game even further. Heck I even entered a team one even we were one card short of going to Regionals! To see  how this works go to the official website by clicking the logo above or, the link below.

The anime features a young boy named Aichi Sendou who is in middle school who is always bullied, but after being forced to play to get his prized card back his life is changed by the game forever. He goes through trails to over come himself and the world just to ultimatly discover what real strength is and really just who he is. Yes this show has magical powers, but so what!!!.

The game's objective is to deal six damage to your opponent by attacking their vanguard. The game is best explained in the anime's first two episodes where they explain the rules. Which her is the video now!!!!! (insert kitty face here.) The voice acting gets better as it goes along. This is also the official youtube channel. And all the songs I believe are sung by the original Japanese artist.(atleast the openings are.)

The game combines in my opinion the best off all the card games out there but in no way dominates all competition, but is worth a try.

I would like to to see if there are fans here and if I can make new fans here to help promote what I think an awesome new card game for those who play card games, or were thinking about playing. So whats your thoughts on the subject!!!

I'll start caring when/if they get a game out for it on 3DS. Until then I'll stick to Yu-Gi-Oh.

edit: Oh, wow. There actually is a game out for this, but apparently it's in Japan only.

I tried getting into the game, but the game is WAAAY more luck-based than any other card game I've experienced. Sacking Double Criticals on either your or your opponent's 3 damage really really hurts. It becomes even more broken when cards like Phantom Blaster Dragon can already get a maximum of 4 Critical, though the likelihood of that happening is very very low (but still a possibility). Also, Season 2 dub was terrible. Season 1 was okay, and Season 3 is great.

Also, Genesis has been proving a really fun Deck to play. :D

I use SK gancelot a lot infact he is my favorite card in my deck and I get four or five critical with a lot, but sadly usally he is blocked although it makes my opponent uses either there only perfect shield or a lot of shield. The Royal Paladins Basic Knights build or the Royal Paladin Trail Deck is the most fun deck I have ever played with personally haven't tried the clans from season 3 yet though so who knows.

And I don't rant on season 2's dub that much after seeing the JPN version which isn't much better. This being for season 2 was mainly a bridge from 1 to 3. And I must say I can't wait for season three to dubbed. From whet I can see from product release dates the season 3 dub will be in September or October.

I personally like this as my favorite card game ever!! Although I play magic with friends and tournaments with yugioh. Heck I even tried the pokemon league before.Although to some this may seam like a broken game because its a solid luck game really, but thats what I like about it its a game that you don't have to have the newest deck to win or you will lose before you get to your second turn. Although I lose alot fights for this reason the miracle trigger Idea to me is what I thought was missing from other card games it  gave that intense high pressure last draw moment you can get at points, but just my opinion.

Nah, Cardfight Vanguard, at least, in my calibre, is about 40% skill, where it's readily apparent in some/all card games, 30% Deckbuilding, testing which cards synergize best with which, and figuring out which combos your Deck can utilize best, and 30% luck, though that's not saying much because luck is a random factor in any game.

Undermeta Decks can still lose to Gold Paladins.

Though, really, if you wanted a game that was purely 100% luck, 0% skill, Sword Girls fits more into that category than Cardfight Vanguard.

With this game I'm starting to notice a real big power creep in my observation. A lot of the vanguards are starting to have their attacking abilities go way way above the old power levels of the cards. This card game has luck based factors because 1 heal to 1 critical can determine the game, but overall it looks fun and I might buy a starter deck as a start.

Overall the darkness cards looks pretty awesome though I may look into the dragonkind cards

Cool! Yah but with the higher powers come restrictions and very specific conditions for use. I use the Royal Paladins and have beaten every new deck I have fought with the starter deck and only lost once when I went to a tournament and I was fighting the brand new ones. Since the game is luck based no matter how poweful they make the cards they can still lose! Which is cool cause its funny when someone spends 500 dollars building their best deck and I pay 20 for a starter deck and whoop all their butts!

Also they are making there last sets sine the anime is almost over. From what I here which is good because there final cards are kind of broken.

I think Gold Paladins were meta by the time I stopped playing, as well as PB Blaster Dark decks. That may have changed by the time I started picking it up again.

Power creep is a determining factor of any card game. It's how well you manage it that your card game succeeds or fails. Take a look at YGO. MASSIVE, GIGANTIC power creep since Inzektors. It's no wonder people hate playing against Dragon Rulers/Spellbooks now (though with the most recent sets, the next few formats might take a turn for the better, once Konami rakes all the money that they can out of D-Rulers/Judgment). I'd say power creep was happening to Vanguard since Barcgal became a thing.

Also, about the dragonkind cards:

Kagero is best scrub deck because 9 year old prepubescent boys like dragons. It's a thing.

I wouldn't say Sword Girls is 100% luck-based, lol. Maybe about 70% is luck-based. The 30% is all about planning the right followers/spells to the right positionings, and using combination bursts of several groups of cards.

Anyway, most card games if not all is really luck based or if you would like a better term, probability based...

It acts on the probability of you getting the cards that you want when you draw, or better yet, getting the set or combo of cards that you have pre-planned when you make your deck...

And then of course, it's possible to create a deck that works in most situations (meaning no matter which cards you draw, you can pull off something nice), though finishing that kind of deck would probably take you a lot of time if it was even possible...

I have a my Royal Paladin deck made to be a deck that can beat 90% of all situations mainly because I don't build my deck around one card(s) but stick as many possible combos as possible with out throwing the decks balance out if whack.

Has anyone tried the newer trial decks? I was looking at getting Purgatory Revenger, Star-vader Invasion, or Dimensonal Brave Kaiser. Prefer to buy just one to start, so am wondering which is the best.

I run gold paladin and royal, but I occasionally slip off to Genesis and Tachikaze.

Every card game tends to have some form of 'luck' though, I'll admit. Here, the thing I bet on the most is lucky triggers( Faced someone with Noveulle Vague, and a heal trigger popped up and I couldn't use it because of that annoying skill noveulle has..)

+

Your opponent will really hate you if they use a retiring skill, and you bring out Wolf Fang Liberator, Garmore and get a lucky draw on all five cards.

Watch the Japanese version. I can't take the English voice actors without laughing my head off.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
