Heyyy, it's been way too long since my last dumbness, how about some new dumbness?

So, I finally decided to try implementing a caterpillar script to my game, and...it...it just doesn't work. At all. It doesn't crash my game or anything, but that just means it's doing literally nothing.
I got the, um...Fukuyama script, since that's the only one I can find. Didn't touch it, the instruction video I saw just got to boot up their game and have it work immediately, so I went to add a party member and...nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Looked for instructions. There are none in the script I've got, and the other two sites I found in an attempt to figure out what was wrong were no help whatsoever. One of them told me to edit something, so I did...and it still didn't work. In this case, it actually made my game crash without a small event tweak.
Took the script out and re-added it, fresh and untouched all over again, but it still won't work.

I don't know if I should post a picture of the script, or a link to where I got it, or what, but I'm feeling really lost and have no idea what's wrong with what I've got.

Can someone either help me figure it out, or give me a caterpillar script that actually works?

Your post is very vague. We can't help you unless you give us the details.

Yes, please link to the script so we can take a look.
What did "one of them tell you to edit"? What did it look like after you edited it (just screenshot those few lines of script).
If it made your game crash, did it give you an error message as it was crashing? If so, what was the error message?

Where did you place the script in the list of scripts? What other scripts do you have? Could you give us a screenshot of your scripts window?

or give me a caterpillar script that actually works?
I'm certain it actually does work, and that you're just not using it correctly. If it didn't work, you'd see lots of people complaining about it, and you probably wouldn't even be able to find it after this many years.

How did you set up your starting party? Did you delete actors from the Actors tab and then add new ones, lower down, to prevent the initial actors all being in the party?

I got the script from here, and as for everything else, well, um...
I think I'm going to skip over it because I found my missing party member while testing something else. He's, um...he's in the wall, when he should have been on the other side of the room. (Ignore the one behind me, that's using the basic "Follow Player" movement thing already in rpg maker)

I kind of just assumed the version I got (since it's apparently a repost and not the original) was missing some lines or something.

As for the crashes...it happened once when I attempted to call the script by force and once again when I was trying to chance the opacity of an event, but both times it crashed on start up and both times the event was via action button.
But I can't seem to recreate the crashes either way. If I can get it to happen again, I'll add the error I get

...Okay, ask and you shall receive, apparently.

It doesn't crash very consistently, so I don't think it actually has anything to do with what I'm doing in the game.

um...Sorry, It occurred to me that I didn't actually reply directly to your post, so you probably didn't see my stuff if you weren't watching the thread >///>; But I got to see the bottom part, so...yay...?

As for the party, I just went to the "system" tab and changed the initial party so it's just the player character upon startup.

Any chance you added the script then tried to load a game you had started/saved prior to adding the script?

Lemme answer my own comment, yes, yes it did
I'm a little too stubborn to have ever figured that out on my own, so...I won't consider this a waste of a thread, despite the dumbness--
Thanks for your help

Sometimes scripts set up their data when you start a new game, and that data is saved with the save file. So if you didn't have that script and you started a game, the data would not have been set up. Then when you saved, added the script, and resumed your saved game, it would have expected the data to be there. Not finding it, error.

This script does seem to do a few things when the party is first set up or actors are added to the party, but I can't say for sure whether that caused your problem. I suggest you start a new game and remove any old ones, and see if it happens again.

Double posting is where you post something directly under one of your own posts without a 72 hour gap. So this is, in fact, triple posting.

If you want to add something use the Edit button on your post and put in the extra information, comment, etc. If you want to have more than one quote, get the first quote in the normal way, then do not do 'insert quote' just yet. Get all the other quotes, and then insert them. Otherwise the forum software will automatically start a new post for each quote.

Ahhh...

I did do so, and everything seems to be in full working order now, thankfully

@Substitute101 I asked you not to double post and you immediately do it again.
Please read my explanation again. If there is something there which is not clear, ask so that I can clarify it.

posting twice in a row is double posting, regardless of the reason.

If you want to reply to multiple people, use the + Quote button in the lower right of each post. Or better (because you rarely have to actually quote them if you're just replying to them), use @ followed by their name, and they'll get a notification that you've replied.

When your issues is resolved, just report your first post and ask for the thread to be closed :)

This ^^. It doesn't matter what the content is, a double post is one where you post again with no intervening posts or a gap of 72 hours.
