Couldn't open the door but, (edit)I found the box!
I'm currently playing and enjoying the game, but I just ran into an unavoidable game-breaking bug early on, which is present in the new version you just uploaded. Something is wrong with the pathway at the Acre sewers' exit inside the city. When entering the pathway (no matter if the switch has been activated or not), I can't leave it to either side (up or down). Running/walking or turning the always run option on/off doesn't make a difference either, and I can't think of anything I'm doing wrong. This is probably a version-specific bug; otherwise at least ShadowDragon would have encountered it long ago. Well, this game is just like I love my cup of JRPG, so I'll patiently await a fix or instructions to get me out of this quandary; thanks in advance.
I found the issue and fixed it, so the download link is updated. Thanks for finding this. The problem was that I use a plugin that allows me to use regions to pass underneath tiles and the regions needed to do this were missing. You should be able to throw the switch and pass through the door now.
Excellent, the fix works. Thank you very much!
I'm sorry for bothering you again: Now that I'm inside the Ice Castle where the second Sanctum is located, I have a general idea of what I'm supposed to do, but I'm stuck nonetheless. After pushing the first pillar in the second room on the nearby gray tile, I can't jump across the gap between the two plateaus, no matter what I do, and I don't see any other way to progress. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
When standing on the left plateau, you have to make the jump from the bottom right corner of the edge. You should be standing exactly two spaces to the left of the pillar (assuming the pillar is on the grey tile). Thinking about it now, I may actually change some of the tiles in that room to make it more obvious where you're supposed to be standing to make the jumps.
I had tried that, and I just tried it again - to no avail. When the first pillar stands on the gray tile, I can't trigger the jump from anywhere on the left plateau. This issue actually applies to the right plateau as well. Could you please check if the jumps on that map trigger correctly? I'm at a loss with this right now, since I've tried everything I can think of (using different Enter keys on the keyboard, resetting and not resetting the pillars etc.).
Great game, i really like it . My problem is because my computer are a couple years old , some MV games sometimes tends to crash suddenly, and i can`t remember where or how i found the G.Glove.
If I remember correctly, Genji Glove is the first/only treasure you can find in Tazewell Mansion when you visit that location for the first time.
Okay, I found the issue. The plugin I use to make secret passages has a stipulation where it can only let you run events that are on the same floor level as the player. This can be bypassed with a specific event comment, which I have added to all of the events in that room, so the jumps should be working now. In fact, the stairs leading to the upper levels in that room would not have worked, either had I not added the event comment. This is stated right in the plugin documentation, so it's my fault for not catching it. I've tested other areas where you're making jumps from the tops of autotiles, and they seem to be working so hopefully you won't run in to this problem again. I have updated the download link with the fix.
I've tried to implement changes/plugins to help optimize the game as much as I can, but sometimes it's not enough. Try going to the config menu and disabling animated autotiles, or closing other applications while you play.
This is correct.
Thanks, jumping works now. I'll give a holler if I suffer from the "white men can't jump trope" again.
Dang, now I've encountered a serious "immaterialness" issue inside the Ice Castle. I can't activate the blue switch on the first floor (which, I assume, is mandatory to advance), probably because I can walk right through it. The treasure chest on the second floor suffers from the same problem, by the way.
Fixed. The issue was the same as before, just events needing a comment so that you can interact with them regardless of floor level.
Since nothing worked anymore inside the dungeon when I loaded my latest save file, I had to restart the whole dungeon. Now I got stuck on the map where the Cedar Staff (treasure chest) can be found. Jumping to the lower right corner, the map can't be left via the stairs, no matter if the red switch there has been pulled or not. And the treasure chest on the second floor still can't be opened, although that's the least of my concerns by now. I'm afraid this dungeon needs some serious playtesting.
Thanks, i found the glove again. In the town Nort... it`s 5-6 persons sitting around a table, it`s possible to walk right through them and i can not speak with any of them. And how to open the door to the castle there in the snowy woods? Or should i go somewhere else to find Dryx...? And now when i go up to the highest point in the castle, above the king, i just walk right through only soldier there , I could talk to him before if i remember correct.
EDIT:I took the savefile and put it in the version before the last, and now it works to talk to the people and LENA, so now i`m gonna put in the newest/right version and maybe being able to continue.
The Arondight castle top bug is also part of my bug notes (but so far I posted only things that made progression impossible). Not only couldn't I talk to the NPC soldier at the very top, I could walk through him just like you experienced, kenlan (also, the fourth clue for the armory captain side quest, "E", is nowhere to be found there). To make matters worse, I couldn't return downstairs (game-breaking). My impression is that the last major update corrupted a lot of map transfer points and other aspects, so I'll be playing something else until I can be sure that another trek through the Ice Castle won't be cut short again. This game is really entertaining apart from that; I'm looking forward to continuing my playthrough as soon as the game is more stable.
Yes, the last update musthave corrupted some things. I took my svaefile when i couldn`t progress and put it in the version before the last and fix my problem and then put it back in the newest version. But it maybe doesn`t work for all things. But i was able to talk to people and progress.
I just updated the game today that should hopefully fix the issues others have been experiencing with events not working, walking through people, etc. A plugin I used to fix a different minor issue ended up opening a can of worms on pretty much any map where you're walking on "ceiling" tiles, so I had to go through and add event comments and regions to a lot of areas to make them usable.
Sorry it took awhile, but going through 500 or so maps to try and find all these trouble areas, as well as test them afterwards, took longer than expected.
There is a place in the desert ruins where you can walk on and off the wall top.
Taking small steps: I was almost able to complete the Ice Castle.
- What's blocking my progress right now: I can't interact with the computer console in order to open the Sanctum's door (game-breaking, unless I'm doing something wrong).
- Also potentially game-breaking: The prompt to jump down the hole after the boss fight doesn't appear again if the player chooses "No".
- Leaving the boss fight map to the south should transport the player to the save crystal map, but (s)he is instead transported one map further south.
- Sometimes pillars can't be pushed, but leaving and reentering the respective map usually solves this issue.
I appreciate your hard work and quickly provided patches, Chazareth, all the more so as I consider how complicated and frustrating it must be to handle all these buggy plugins and scripts.
