Celianna's Tileset

Is it okay to use these tiles in VX ace if I own both VX ACE and VX?

From reading through older posts on this thread, it seems that that is correct. You can use them in Ace as long as you also own VX. Currently, I only own Ace but absolutely love Celianna's tileset and have already progressed a decent way into my project. So, come payday, I hope to be getting VX to be able to use it legally but keep my work in Ace. If that's indeed how it works? If not, someone please correct us! Thank you for your time.

No, you're right.  For both her Parallax Tiles and these Tilesets, you HAVE to own RPG Maker VX, at the very least, then they can be used in any other RPG Maker engine (XP/VX/Ace).  As long as you legally own a copy of VX, you're good to use them in Ace.

You can use my tiles in any Maker so long as you also own RPG Maker VX - that one is always required.

It's been explained ad nauseam in this thread: The reason VX is required is because some of the elements in her tilesets use and/or are modifications of the VX RTP. As you know, the RTP license is bound to the maker it's made for. Sure, it would be nice to be able to buy the RTP alone at a slight discount, but then the problem becomes how to license it specifically; what software should it be tied to? Should it be open to use in any software? That in itself requires a specific agreement on a per project basis, like with any RTP. So the easy solution for everyone is to require you to buy VX for the license of the RTP. You do then get the whole VX RTP to use, and Celianna's tilesets, so it isn't a bad deal I think.

(In all seriousness, maybe you should make a tileset which is not an edit so anyone can use them legitimately on any maker. It may be some work but this tile only benefits VX Users...)

Some of them are edits, but most of the stuff is custom.  The thing is, BECAUSE it contains even just minimal edits of of VX RTP stuff, you must own VX in order to use it.  However, if you own VX (at least), then you can use these tiles in XP, VX or Ace, but you must own VX.  If you want free tiles of this quality, check the Steampunk Tiles, which can be used for non-commercial projects and can be used in any Maker.  For commercial, it's $150 and you'd have to contact either Celianna or Lunarea.

I do not make tiles on requests of entitled members who don't understand the amount of work and skill that went into making these tiles (more than half is from scratch, the others are using edits THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL), and can't actually point out what part of the tiles are an edit. I made it with using a few bits and pieces from the VX RTP, therefor you must own VX to use this. Ace did not exist when I made these.


P.S: I already made a tileset from scratch that anyone can use. Guess what it is!


I'd like to not have these kind of replies in my thread please. Buy VX, or don't use my tiles. End of the line. Don't ask me to accommodate you by making another tileset because you lack VX.

I disagree.


There are many resources which become available freely if you buy VX, Celiannas as a chief example, and are easily worth the $30 bucks you would have spent if you bought VX over the weekend sale.


She is very patient putting up with all this ridiculous bashing in a thread that simply and generously shares her art with the whole freaking WORLD. Pay the $30 bucks people. Buy VX. And get one of the best game making resources available. Right here. For free.

I was given the Futuristic set as a gift during the weekend and you know what?  It's freakin amazing.  I have this free tileset and her parallax both downloaded and ready to use as soon as I buy VX.  I'd be more than happy to buy VX if it meant I can use these tiles.  I can wait.  The quality of them is very worth it.
