Basic Gameplay Idea:

After being thrown down into the Abyss Ceress awakens in a cave environment.
An old deity heard her 'prayers' and agrees to let her return, if she can make her way out of their realm.
Ceress will have to solve some puzzles and dodge some creatures chasing her to escape this caves and to be able to return to her love. Some additional exploration might lead to finding extra scenes...​

Development Pillars:

1. Tell a short, bittersweet lovestory (between two women).
2. Make a beautiful and unique feeling game BUT use premade Tilesets.
FSM Tiles. (Reason? Using a premade tileset will allow me to progress MUCH faster!)
Add to it with edits and custom art.
Custom portrait art and custom sprites by me. Custom OST by @futrchamp .
3. Puzzles and Exploration as key gameplay element.
4. Try to show, not tell.
5. Atmosphere.​

For me, it will all lean towards the execution of the story. The basic idea sounds fine. And of course I don't care which tileset is nessecarily used, if with even the tiniest edits in your tileset can make your world that much more rich, then by all means go for it. Regarding your first (super-gorgeous ) screenshot, you can definitely expect people to ask for the same level of detail and thought put into it the whole game through. If you can stay consistent with that and make the player feel invested in the world, lore and so forth there is no need to worry about your price tag as it would be justified for playing your game.

But those are just my two cents on the matter

@Jayje I thought about outdistancing them, because there will no actual battle mechanics be included. This part of the game would be about making sure, that you're not getting caught (touched) by those enemies. I also thought about checking out one of those stealth plugin, but right now I'm unsure if I'll use any of them.

Update time!

This week I created another (4th) map and little Ceress is now able to walk around, whooohooo!

Beside that I reworked my Avatar and Banners for social media.


Next Week:
- Make a more specific list of all the things that need to be done. (Maps, Sprites, additional tiles, etc.)
- More maps
- Starting Sprites for the other characters I'll need.

Small Mid-Week Update!

Since I made these lighting gifs for my shop page,
I thought I could also share them here.
For people wondering: Yes I use the FSM - Caves and Woods Tiles and add to it as I go.
(I also did some color changes etc.)

It looks gorgeous! The story seems interesting- I'd certainly give it a go, and the assets are nice! It only takes a tiny change to make default assets look interesting and new, in my opinion. Would I pay four dollars? Maybe! It's certainly better value than certain other games I've played *coughAveyond3cough*. I look forward to seeing what comes out of this!

Update Time!
Sadly I couldn't post an update last saturday...
because my modem broke and I had only mobile access.
Now I'm back!

Weekly Update Incoming!

This week I spend my dev time on smaller things!

• I fixed an issue with Ceress walk animation, her hair is way better now! =3
• I finished the walk sprite for another character.
• I did a textbox/window design! Woohooo.
• I chose a font to use. It's called Yahfie.
• I did setup GALV's window style plugin.
• I did setup MOG's Char Poses plugin and did an Idle animation for Ceress.

And I did spend to much time creating test character portraits which I’ll not use in the end. XD
I'll stick with sprites and behaviours, because I'm currently watching a let's play of "Finding Paradies" and really enjoy all the work put into the sprites. There's defenitly no need for portraits. Especially if you keep the textwindow close to the sprites....

I'm thinking about having some cutscene-esque artworks, tho.
But that's not a promise.

Over on ******* I posted those character arts I did and another small (crappy) preview video! Haha.

Lol, the quick brown fox font test. xD
I love the visual. Everything is spot on.
The window and the font looks very professional.
And I can feel the atmosphere of the game even without music.

This game looks lovely! The story sounds intriguing.

One thing about her sprite—I kinda thought she had horizontal stripes in her hair until I saw the chibi version of her above. Perhaps you should make it a bit more obvious that those are bands?

WEEKLY UPDATE! <3

Time sure flies! Another week has gone by.

This week I spend most of my gamedev time on...

• finishing some of the sprites I need for the opening scene.
• ´painting the new years artwork I posted earlier!
• eventing the beginning of that scene. And I'll share a video of that.
• smaller edits like adding a vignette and some particles to the first map.
