Is it a good a idea to "play BGM", "change Battle BGM" and "change Victory ME" using common events?

The idea is that you can retroactively change the BGM of the
game without needing to look for every map that utilizes the old BGM.

For example if you have a big forest region that plays the same BGM over several maps and has the same Battle BGM.

I mean can this method cause more lag or further audio delays than doing everything "manually"?

You haven't really given enough information to go on. There is nothing about those commands that would cause any kind of lag or audio delays. And there is nothing about common events as opposed to map events that would, either.

Now, if you are talking about setting them up as a parallel process that would be running for the entire game (which would be a very important aspect that you completely left out), it's a different matter. You wuoldn't want to be running this on every frame, so you'd put in a Wait 60 frames (or even 15 frames). But if you want it to start as soon as you enter the map you also wouldn't want to have a BGM attached to the map because that would play for a fraction of a second first.

Why are you thinking about using a common event rather than a map event? If this is associated with a specific area (like a big forest region - if region = map), then a map event would make more sense.

You'll have to explain how you plan to set it up and have it determine when to change audio, for us to understand the potential issues more fully. If you've already done it, give us a screenshot.

Well. It probably was not too obvious from my first message, but what I am trying to do here is more of a "quality of life" thing for me as the dev rather than a "gameplay" feature.

Basically, the game-world is split into several "areas", each spanning over several maps.
You know, there is a big forest area that has ~10 maps connected to each other.

Just for more context, I have a single "initialization" event on every map which - among other things - would call said common event to change the BGM and the Battle BGM.

Also, I have on-screen enemies. There are several types of on-screen enemies with individual BGM and Victory ME.

So my idea was, I could make the "initialization event" and the "on-screen enemies" call a common event to change the BGM to the appropriate ones.

I found myself changing the BGM of many places and encounters quite often during development, so it would be way more comfortable to just go into the common event tab to change ALL of the BGM at once instead of going through every instance where the old BGM is played and swapping it with the new one.

But before I do that, I wanted to know if there is any kind of risk in terms of performance when doing that.
I tested it for a little bit and it seemed fine so far but I just wanted to make sure, so I don't regret it later.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
