change gear = change sprite/graphic

I was wondering if there is a script out there or if someone can help me figure out how to write a script like that. or anyone who is brave enough to make one for the rest of us who suc& at script writing.

it should be something that will work with other engines that use different sprites.

or maybe it  would have to be a add on or...maybe a stand alone?

heck for all i know someone could probably figure out how to conditional switch it

EDIT 11-24-2014- Resolutions to Post Topic
Thanks to Susan and Cheeky Moon

So looks like Victors Script has the most functionality

Also have not read Victor Sants Visual Equip here:
https://drive.google...Qlk&usp=sharing

http://victorscripts...g-maker-vx-ace/

I still am trying to grasp it all but seem u can even just change hat, hair etc,
I will likely just tell it to use a dif sprite for the best armors so I will have maybe 3 - 5 different outfits or looks for my actors/player and less for non key actors

 I am using

Yami Symphony - Add-on: 8D/Kaduki Battlers to control actors graphic while in battle

HIME - Eight-Directional Movement for player sprite and monster sprites for walking about.

Yami Engine Symphony - Add-on: Holder Battlers for monster sprite control iin battle

I still need to read and learn up on Victor's "Multi Frames", "Diagonal Movement" and "Character Control",

you i knew about needing the "Basic Module" script for Victor Sants script.

and thanks checky moon for the links to victors scripts and his
Blog

http://victorscripts...g-maker-vx-ace/

I will hopefully incorporate all the other stuff in

my next game

Counter insurgency - Kobani, Syria

end edit

An other script for visuals is that one here from Modern Algebra:
http://rmrk.net/index.php?topic=44872.0

It's a bit more compatible with save game option and animation scripts, so you might want to try this one first. ;)
But Visual Equipment from Victor Sant is more configurable, but not compatible with Custom Save Engines or the basic one.
Victor Sants Visual Equip here:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B5uvwXLAev89ZTVQRTd2T0EwQlk&usp=sharing

He also has a "Multi Frames", "Diagonal Movement" and "Character Control", so there is a lot of customization for the animations and visual equip. ;) (\s/)
You will also need the "Basic Module" script for Victor Sants script. You can get all scripts from the link, if you want to know what is what, look here:
http://victorscripts.wordpress.com/rpg-maker-vx-ace/

You need to get a face save game file first to get 100% compatibility, or simply put an "#" in front of the line you get the error, but then you don't have characters on your save file. :/

May I should give a warning about Side View Battle, because Visual Equip and ANY Sideview Battle script DON'T work together. /)

I am also a firm believer in learning by doing, except I like to lean over the shoulder of those who know how to do and watch them do so I can learn. Otherwise it is an exercise in futility.

If you really must know why he has no demos, head over to his blog and check the comments on the 'Visual Equip' script page. He mentions the reason there.

lol aye I read it. sorta sounds like his reason for not updating all his broken links on the pages at wordpress. I had terrible time until I found his scripts using google search and about 4 hours of searching. I only noticed last week his note that his front page has a link to his script and list / links.

Is there a list on this forum for Demos with proj files?

I think you already asked that question earlier and it was answered, I have no further leads than what was already given to you. Sorry.

The VX Ace demo Crysalis on the main website has unencrypted files, although they use pure eventing for everything.

Some projects in the forums and in the rpgmaker.net have unencrypted files, but you would have to take the time to download and find out which.

You will not find many people using Victor's scripts because of the lack demos. And I believe that he did not update those links because they cost money to maintain and hardly anyone donates for things they can get for free. That's one of the reasons why a lot scripters' websites and blogs are down. Another reason is because they have found better things to do, maybe like getting hired by big companies or being drafted into full-time programming/game-making.

Ok thanks yes I just saw your link on a different post, i was gone all day so I didn't see the other answer till I got home

Demo with Tutorials

Wow they only have 24 listed ....... I actually have little more than 38 demos and 10 games with proj files. I not just interested in Script demos. Most are to learn from the eventing, use of switches variables, and common events. `

Yup I totally understand that people come and go it is the same I experience in online rpgs. I think this is a great and excellent venue for those with talents to show them off and get noticed and hopefully hired by a big gaming company. I grew up with a kid who ended up head of Blizzard's 3D department in early 1990s making 200k + a year....sweeeet

I made a demo with proj files for Will C's plug and play script for making small boat into a land vehicle. sweet simple script, and even the newest users could make great use of it. DEMO is HERE it includes a BGM of a great Santa Barbara band you can use the music for non-commercial purposes. If you want to use it in commercial let me know I will work with you and the Band for a one time fee or % on sales. Sometimes can get it really cheap. I can also get the band Sublime and the Damned

Thanks for the link, ianbach! I am not too sure about whether Santa Barbara's music can be used in your demo even if it is out of print. You may need to get further clarification from the copyright owners or from the administrators or moderators here.

If I am not mistaken, you can post your demo in the early project feedback or the project development forums depending on how far your project is along:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/forum/48-early-project-feedback/

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/forum/20-project-development/

Each forum has different rules and guidelines (pinned to the top of each forum) as to what demos should be posted there. From what I gather, your project is still in the early creation stage, so it should be posted in the early project feedback forum.

You can get a lot of feedback there depending on who downloads and plays your demos. You will have to make your project sound interesting, and will have to keep an open mind about the feedback and criticism given there. Some people can sound harsh, but mean well especially when writing out long reviews about your demo. Others may just give a general, short good-or-bad gameplay review. Most may not say anything.

Check out how the others post and advertise their demos on those pages as well as on the completed games forum for tips on how to advertise your game to catch people's interest.

Good luck!

@ Susan -  I was tired last night and had already thought oh I have to clarify some things that post.
lol aye The demo is demo for wills script only.

My game I will release with proj file encryption is massive at the moment as far as zones and scripts the proj I am working on will be a non commercial so I will be using lots of music even copyright stuff. If I can't post it here I can let some friends have the links for a torrent file but II prob will also do a google drive link also.

the next game that I will be working on Counter Insurgency - Kobani that will have lots of copy righted music but deals worked on on paper with the bands I use.

I contacted TaoJonz waiting to hear back. left them a message on their twitter account saying i want to use their music in a computer game..hehe they will be all excited. I lost their numbers couple years ago. So I am going to get legal rights to use a song or two. Likely whole songs for promotional purposes. on RPG maker games not sure if they have any deals to sell their stuff atm, but they don't make crap from their music, I have friends in Bands that play often just to make some money, and they are always broke, asking to borrow beer money, they don't make anything nowadays off records its mostly from shows, since Tao Jonz doesn't tour and plays a few times a year, their real jobs are what pays their bills. Tao Jonz actually has a web site were you can download all their songs for free. I have spoke with them about using their stuff before but that was for my purposes. Since they know me and like me they were like SURE cool !!

I grew up in Southern California and was a singer songwriter in a band back in the 1980s. My brother still plays for some cool bands, and with friends. I am still friends with Eric from the band Sublime I even double date once with bradley the now dead singer was nightmare he smoked speed in my girlfriend apartment that was end of that . I knew him from 58th street Belmont shores peninsula long beach california , I had to sute girl room mates so they were always hang around like hawks, Brad singer Quitar on the beach was nice times though.

I am going to get rights to use some of their stuff on my next project. If anyone wants to use Sublime, The Damned, Agent Orange, Stiff Little Fingers, those are pretty big bands and they make a living off their music, the Damned (London) and Stiff Little Fingers (Ireland - U2 stole their style, then got rich) but just heard a stiff little finger song on a commercial for a car .. song was "gotta gotta get away" My brothers best friend manages all their taxes in US their accommodations shows they play at he helps get a couple more than they had, he is my connect for them.

I know tons of small bands in Long Beach and San Diego lots of old punk rock ones and newer styles of rock from those areas who I will get some music that you guys can use legally. The numbers on sales of the games made using RPG makes it so it would likely be use their most played song on projects they think are cool. One my old friends II need get ahold of because I think he could make good money composing, he is amazing on organ synthesizer and piano he would be ok think of a scene from a story. then he would play it out. He plays in a band called Filthy Beggars lol.

Do you have a section on Legal? I do not think I saw one here.
I do understand why the forum would have their own set limits on what they feel is the right legal exposure for them.

It really depends on how you are going to use copyrighted media, Education purposes works copyrights can be used (within limits) cant just regurgitate it, movie and film documentaries you can get away with a lot also. It also depends on how much circulation. you could have something that was a free game but because it became so widely dispersed and say you have complete songs or even complete albums then you can for sure get into legal issues.

EDIT
I am going to strip the tao jonz song out for now on the demo // tutorial on wills script. actually i gona ask him if he even will be ok with me doing that demo of his script???  then I'll post it where u said.

Edit 2

Looked on youtube and Doug from the band has posted all the songs Banana Juice has some very cool island beat groove. Would be cool for island game. or caribbean feel game

BTW youtube when I make videos and post them they are ok with tao jonz no copyright request on posting . it is amazing first game video i made i had some cool 80s song and got message this video has copyright material then all the warning etc. wow i was surprised computers can do that even with voices and other noise on one song. but tao jonz no worries.

It's great that you have a lot of plans laid out already, and it's nice to hear that you and your brother were part of a band a while back.

It sounds like you have quite a few connections with other bands.

Nevertheless, you should make sure you obtain proper, binding permission or licenses before using their music.

This website is an official forum of the RM company.

They will not be able to tolerate copyright infringements of any kind.

If you are unsure of whether you will be able to obtain proper permission, your better bet may be to post your game in another site :

http://rpgmaker.net/

Again, I am not familiar with legal matters. You will have to ask a moderator or administrator to be sure.

May he is best, if he's sending a link to his demo to a mod or admin.
Then they would tell him, if it's okay to post or not. ;) (\s/)

Yup my job i have to know a lot about law. Every report I write has crazy liabilities, well they would if I didn't disclose the limitations of the microscopy analysis, or limitations of trying to find and collect environmental and hazardous waste or even industrial Hygiene or safety no to mention all the rules and regulations that I have to work within, nor the dizzying array of government regulatory agencies. but only daunting if not up to date, or constantly continuing education of the subject. One of my favorite radio shows deals with entertainment law
