Hi all! We have some changes coming to the Projects section of the forums that we wanted to let you know about in advance.
To make things simpler, we are combining the Early Project Feedback and Project Development forums into one – Games in Development. Hopefully this will reduce some of the guesswork in trying to figure which one your topic should go in. All existing threads in either of these forums will be moved to the new Games in Development.
In addition, we’ve taken note of need in the community and will be introducing an Ideas and Prototypes forum. We find that people are often wanting project-specific feedback before they have quite gotten started in the development process and this will be the place to find that! However, there will be some requirements in order to prevent floods of threads consisting of a sentence or two. Your idea will need to have some substance to be approved. These requirements will be detailed in the Rules/Guidelines when the forum is created.
The last change is that we will be closing the Features Feedback thread found in Game Mechanics Design and the Plot and Character Feedback in General Discussion. In their places, we will have a thread in the new Ideas and Prototypes section, “Ideas That Don’t Deserve Their Own Thread”, where you can get feedback on “smaller” things – one character, a single mechanic, a small plot point, etc.
In summary the breakdown for these sections is:
Ideas That Don’t Deserve Their Own Thread – Post here if you have a small element you want feedback on – a “singular” idea, if you will.
Ideas and Prototypes – Post here if you have begun fleshing out ideas for plot, characters and mechanics and want feedback on how it will be received. You must be able to meet the requirements for posting in this section or your post will not be approved.
Games In Development – Post here if you are past the “ideas” stage and have started work on your game. You must be able to meet the requirements for posting in this section or your post will be moved to Ideas and Prototypes, if it meets those requirements.
Completed Games – This section will remain the same, and obviously, is for games that are considered finished.
