I dug through 10 or so of the pages here in support, searched and searched, but I couldn't find anything about this. Maybe my search terms weren't specific enough, but I digress.

What I'm looking to do here is have an NPC that the player can speak to and swap out party members and reserve party members as they see fit. I imagine this is something beyond an Event's ability and leans more towards Scripting, which I don't know the first thing about.

Just hoping someone can direct me to something that can do this.

Thank you!  ;)

Do you want the player to talk to this NPC, and then be able to select an actor from the list of partymembers, to be able to remove that person from the party?

Yes, I want the player to have the option of adding and removing actors so that they can have the ones they prefer.

Hmm. You could event it, but it would get tedious depending on how many party members you will have in your game.

If there's only 6 in total, you could first ask if the player wants to add or remove party members (through show choices). For removing, check if the party member is in the party using a conditional branch, and then do this for all 6 of them, and ask if you want to remove them. For adding, you could again check if the party member is already in your party, if not, ask them if they want to add them.

This method doesn't allow you to choose one yourself in the menu and removing/adding them, that would indeed require a script.

Use the show choice command, and then for the actors they select, add them tot he party. Show choice should be on th first page of event commands, I believe.

I figured that's what Eventing it would do. I actually have 6 actors right now, but I plan to have quite a few more so I suppose if I decide to get stubborn I can go this route.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Edit: I completely forgot to ask if you knew of any Scripts that made it possible. (Or if anyone knows, for that matter!)

I'll give this a try, thank you!

Try searching the master script list, or post in the script request forum and ask if anyone knows any :)

You know what would be a funny and creative way of solving this?

Make the party members stand next to the roster guy. All of them. Create an event for each and every single one (setting the event graphic to the party member's graphic in question). When you talk to them, ask if you want them to join party. If yes, add them to party. Create a new event page and set the event graphic to ah uhh ... signpost. Set its condition to 'actor X exists' When the player interacts with it, ask if they want to remove X party member. Do this for all of them :D

I'll give the list a look.

That. Is. Genius. That would probably fit the tone of my game pretty well, given that it isn't supposed to be too serious. If I do use that, you'll definitely be thanked in the credits.  ;)

Thanks again for all the help!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
