I'm using Mack characters, and the default animation walking speed is super fast, in my opinion; it makes the sprites look really weird when I'm using Mack. I looked around for a way to change the default walking animation speed, but none of them worked for me, so I was wondering if anyone knows how I can change that? I'd prefer to be able to change everyone's walking speed, so to edit the database.

Thank you !

In a Movement Route Command you can change the player's speed.

Do you mean the speed at which the character moves from one tile to the next, or the speed of the actual animation?

Speed = how fast they move between tiles

Frequency = how fast the animation frames change

For the player, you can change both of these with the Set Movement Route command.  For an event, it's the Speed and Frequency setting on the event page.

@Shaz I set a move route to make the frequency of the characters' animation slower, but it doesn't seem to have worked. I even put it as an action button trigger, so I could see the animation before and after, and it's the same.

Well, regardless of how fast a character is walking, they're always going to cycle through the same 3 frames of animation off the character sheet. Changing the speed or the framerate might cover up any awkwardness *a little bit*, but the animation cycle's always going to be the same. If it really looks that weird, you might want to consider just editing the sprites. Look closely at how the arms and legs swing and see which part of their movement looks off to you.

You could also try the Extra Movement Frames script which will let you add more frames of animation to make things look smoother (again, you'd have to do some spriting here to make the new transitional frames).

i kept forgetting to reply to this topic, haha

anyway, i figured it out !

if you go to Game_CharacterBase, under "Update Walking/Stepping Animation," there's an "if @anime_count > 18" and if you mess around with that 18, your walking animation will play slower/faster (raise it for slower, lower it for faster). this changes it for Everything, so if you don't want it for everything, i wouldn't recommend it, but i did :)

If you only want it for the player, copy that method into Game_Player and make your changes there.  Then it'll call that version for the player, but the default version for events.  If you have followers and want them to do the same, copy the method into Game_Follower too.

I'm sorry for posting on this quite old topic, but I'm wondering. Is there a way to change the walking animation speed mid-game?

Please start a new thread. Your question is not the same as the OP's and so should be in its own thread, even if it weren't a necro post.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
