Chapter II: Demon Hunters

[Ralph]

Attention everyone! The Evil Overlord is in the forums right now and has his demons scattered all over the place! We have to stop him!

Our goal is to catch the minions with the use of these 'pokeballs' and catch them!

The Rules

1. Comment on this thread and buy a pokeball from Ralph. Each user has 100 GOLD by default. Each Pokeball costs 20 GOLD. You get more gold by hunting down demons!
2. Locate the demon and use the pokeball and throw in the pokeball image! Make sure to comment something significant to the thread!
3. After you use the pokeball, comment back on this thread and link us where you find the demon! Our Demon Compedium will be updated.
4. The event is a week long. Whoever catches the most demons win!

Gameplay Mechanics

1. Demons are only usable for one day. The only exceptions are Demon Bosses which you can save for later.
2. You can trade your demons for stronger balls (including Day-specific demons). Courtesy of Dekita.
   1 Essence, 1 Pokeball, 10 gold = 1 enhanced pokeball with *1.5 attack. 
   
   
   
   4 Essence, 2 pokeballs, 50 gold = 2 enhanced pokeball with *1.5 attack 
   
   
   
3. Each pokeball inflicts 50 damage to the enemy. Boss monsters only get 20 Damage from pokeballs!

Meaning: Malevolent Spirit

 

Before the creation of heaven and earth, a battle between the forces of the god of virtue and the Ahriman ensued, and the Ahriman were banished to the Dark Abyss in the north. However, these malevolent spirits return to haunt the living with their poison and plague. Ahriman have no defined form. They often appear as small animals such as frogs, toads, and snakes. Also called servants of Lucifer in some areas.

Catoblepas

Height: 2-3 meters Weight: 900-1300 lbs.

Habitat: Plains Origin: Ethiopia

Meaning: Greek for "person who looks down"

 

Patterned after an animal that was thought to live in western Africa, the catoblepas has small feet and a very large head. Given this oddity, it's a wonder that it moves at all. Looking a catoblepas in the eye causes one to be killed instantly. According to another legend, it is a creature with a heavy neck that is always bowed, as if looking down at someone. In this telling of the legend, the catoblepas has a long tail which can turn its victim to stone on contact.

Meaning: English "Dragon Knight"

 

Translated literally, it means "dragon horseman". Dragon knights are able to handle aerial enemies with ease using their dragon's ability to fly and their long spears. In some games, dragon knights take on some features of the dragons themselves, such as the ability to breathe fire. By the way, one who slays dragons is usually called a dragon slayer.

Meaning: ???

 

A mix of deer and cow from ancient Chinese lore. It is that culture's equivalent of a unicorn. At first, it was drawn simply, but as time passed, it has been embellished, being drawn more like a dragon with flame-shaped wings. A creature of the highest virtue, it appears only during the rule of a virtuous emperor. It detests the taking of life, even taking care not to crush an insect by mistake as it walks.

Habitat: In the Underworld or the foggy night sky Origin: Arab Myth

Meaning: The Arabic word for "behemoth"

 

The Biblical notion of the behemoth was that of a large hippopotomus, but the Arabs revised this slightly and ended up with a large fish-like creature with wings. The myth goes that seven seas could fit within its girth. It is also said that its eye can shine a very bright light which normal humans cannot see. Legend says that Christ had the opportunity to see this light. Although Christ was said to be knocked unconscious by the light as he swam, he would have had to swim three days under that illumination to reach his destination.

It is said that the Conquistodors witnessed this small animal in their conquest of South America. Its single eye is a vibrant red jewel. The legends say that he who obtains this jewel is promised wealth and happiness. This legend caused many to be led astray into the South American jungle. In RPGs, carbuncles typically have many rare items for the player to obtain.​

Meaning: Male goat

 

A creature with the head of a goat and the body of a lion. During the dark ages, the chimera was painted as a divine animal, taking different forms as the seasons changed. Chimeras usually live in volcanoes or hot places. In the middle ages, the Chimera became known as a monster, able to spit fire and maliciously burn villages and forests to the ground.

The first giants of the Greek myth, part of a race that built Olympus for the gods. the cyclops at first was a one-eyed warrior wearing Athena's armor and used a bow. As time passed, the cyclops was portrayed as a giant that could toss Zeus's lightning bolts at will. Usually lives alone in the mountains living an ascetic lifestyle as humans fear its low intelligence and grotesque appearance.

Meaning: English word "Bigfoot"

 

Assumed to live in the snowy Rocky mountains in the western United States, Bigfoot is said to be a large biped covered in hair from head to toe, much like an oversized monkey. Much like the Loch Ness monster "Nessie", many sightings have been reported, but Bigfoot's existence hasn't been empirically verified with incontrovertable evidence.
