Character Biography in an event?

(I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong category, I made a new account JUST to post this question)


The title really says it all. Is there a script that allows you to make a character biography in an event? This is the idea I had in mind:


Guy pushes a button, and it comes up with a menu that asks which character you would like to view, you click on it, a picture, (possibly) and a long or short biography of that character. That's all


I guess I made that too specific, if anyone can find anything relatively close to that, I would be happy. Oh, and I'm still pretty new to RPG Maker, so could it be "not complex" lol. Thanks!

The most basic way:


Create a Common Event.


1) Show Choices (first tab of Event Command Menu)


In the dialogue box put e.g. Whose biography would you like to read?, then your choices


Character A


Character B


etc.


Type your biography for each character within the choices.


If you want a picture to show as well, then use the Show Picture command second tab of Event Command Menu before the individual's biography text and Erase Picture at the end of it.


You need to decide how the player will access this.  It could be an item in the inventory which calls this common event, it could be a book in a library which does this, or even an NPC.  All of these can call a common event.

Ok, another question. Is there a script that allows the text box to take up the whole page? I understand what you're saying, but I would like all the text on one side of the page. But if you can't find anything, that's fine.

Sorry about the delay in answering, I didn't notice your post.


Using GIMP or similar means you could do this without a script, especially as you want to show a picture anyway.


Take your picture and make it the size you want.


Write your biography on that image using the text tool


Then in your choices, just have Show Picture command.


After the show picture command put in a "show text" command with no text in it and set to transparent.  That way, the picture will stay on screen until the player hits the action button or clicks the mouse to move on.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
