In above images or links I'm using my own background images for the menu scenes by making all default menus transparent. Problem is when I have to select a character after using a target item or spell like cure, the layout changes to a character select but it does not match the menu scenes background. I can make a background for that part but I don't know how it's defined to even name it properly.

I'm using moghunter plugin for the bgs. Each menu scene png has to have the proper menu scene name in the file name. Any ideas on what I can do to solve this?

SumRndmDde has a plugin on his website that provides a huge variety of playtesting tools and also a menu editor.

Press F12 during playtesting in your character selection scene and choose Window_MenuActor (I think that's the windows name) and you can drag it around and set new properties for it to fit your background. You can also modify the window opacity for only certain windows if needed.

Thanks big time! I will give this a try before I scrap my whole menu theme again due to my limitations.

I always smile to myself when I see someone do the "immediate halt and spin around" from forgetting something. I find it sort of endearing how we all do it without ever being taught to.
