He shouldn't, by default.  Are you using the keyboard or the mouse to move?  The player does seem to move faster if you're using the mouse.

Additionally, do you have a regular monitor or some different hardware?

By default, the RMMV game speed is linked to the display refresh rate, and if your display has a refresh faster than 60Hz, then this would speed up the entire game and might look as if the player is always running.

In that case you should use the desync script

Do you have an event setting movement route for the player that increases speed? If I have a scene control event that increases the player speed without setting it back to normal at the end of the event, the player remains at the higher speed.

Check your plug-ins. Some of them set the character to auto-dash unless you disable that feature.

Could be that script. Check to see if it turns on auto-dash. I know quite a few scripts do turn it on as many players like dash being automatic (like myself).

When using the mouse, the player always moves at dash speed. If it's only WASD you want, you can use this:

(function($) {
$[65] = 'left'; // A
$[68] = 'right'; // D
$[81] = null; // Q
$[83] = 'down'; // S
$[87] = 'up'; // W
})(Input.keyMapper);

Note, that this also disables the pageUp/pageDown keys (since they interfere with WASD).

Create a new file named "WASD.js" (or any other name, as long as it ends with ".js") inside your game's "js/plugins" folder and copy paste the code in it. Afterwards, you can activate the plugin in MV's plugin manager.
