Ok... So something caught my eye just now, and that is that I was looking at the quick event for a chest.

It's been my understanding that once a self-switch, or any other thing is changed that would activate the next page, the current pages actions is cut off, and the next page takes over right then....

But i noticed that the self-switch A is ABOVE the item and text...

In a way, this kind of scares me, because I thought I knew the mechanics of the event system, but this goes against it... Can someone please explain this to me?

does the event still work properly? If it does, it's fine - if it doesn't, you'll have to always move the switch, :l maybe we've all been understanding S-switches wrong?

Ofcourse it works. That's a quick event, built it.

It's not really about if it works or not....

It's more like.. WHY does it work...

It shouldn't.

Actually could it be tied to the "action button" trigger? Does it finish the entire page before going anywhere, even if other conditions are met on pages of a higher priority?

No, if you have any event command below control (self) switch, the event command(s) will still be executed.

Only the event graphic will change. If there's any event page is conditionally valid.

Hope I explained well...

usually, any event sequence/page that already runs will be completed - but there are a few commands that are excepted from that.

But the commands where this doesn't work are obvious, like transfer player (the event doesn't exist on the new map any longer) or exit event processing...

If I'm not mistaken, the remain event commands will be executed even if you have transfered the player to another map

I have tried it in my project

AFAIK, some event commands do stop running after transfer (based on problems other people had posted), but most of them seems to still run for me.

I normally like to update switches and self switches as the last thing, but in this case, it's done before you get the gold, because it would look a bit weird having a message tell you that you get gold, if the chest is still closed.

I THINK event commands that have a delay of some kind (like the Wait command, or those that allow you to check a 'Wait' box) MAY cause subsequent commands to be missed if you change a self switch before those commands. Seems to be something to do with how much the interpreter can do in one hit, before coming up for air, and anything with a wait/delay lets it come up with air. At least, that appears to be the logic attached to the ones I've seen do it.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
