For my game I need a message board. When the player walks against it the textbox pops up.

This textbox is showing 4 quests. the first one is selected. When the player does a arrow down key the second quest gets selected. When reaches the last quest and he does a arrow down, then 4 new quests are showing. Its like a list of quests on the message board.

When the player selects a quest with the enter of space key, he gets the choices, yes no.

Does annyone know how to do this, or is there a script for it?

well, showing 4 choices is easy with events, but since you want to show another set of choices to show once you press down when ur on the current last choice, this would probably need a custom scene...

Won't the normal choice box suffice?

You can put sentences in the choice boxes right??

though if you want more control or do it in a "textbox" (because I think it's not really the normal textbox, but rather a selectable window just like the commands and menu selections), then you'd need to request for a script for that...

Someone told me that it was a standard feature inside the other makers.

I am new to this all, so I have no idea.

Where do I a request for a script?

It is a standard feature in everything other than Ace.

If this feature is absolutely necessary and you have all of the resources available for a different engine (eg: VX) you might consider just using VX so you don't have to hope someone will fill the request.

Alternatively if you request it as a paid job you might get it done faster.

I know someone put in a free request half a year ago and bumped every few weeks and never got anything.

But if you don't want to wait, VX has it built-in and is an option.

I start to think you drag me into something I dont want.

VX cost again 60 dollar. ace is the latest version.

Paying for a script? Like i said I am new with RPG maker, but paying for a script? I am maybe a noob, but one that thinks. I reccon you could make such a script?

I am a newbie and do a lot of searching to learn and get an understanding of the program. But reccomending me to pay for a script??? Or to buy a older version of RPG maker?

Don't get me wrong. I would be willing to pay for a script if it had some benefits to me as well, and so far I cant see them. This at the moment a hobby for me, not a paying job.

So to say, I think your suggestions are a bit strange.

It's not all that strange when you think about it. A lot of the scripts, rather ALL of them, you find here, or RPGMaker fansites, are made by other people. That's to say, by people with scripting knowledge. While some people may be willing to make, translate, or convert scripts for free, some people will charge for such services. Tsukihime is saying you could either find and pay someone to make a script with the function you're looking for, or buy RPG Maker VX and use that instead of Ace.

That's all.

Both suggestions where not necassery. As I was under the impression that only short answers where possible in the show choices event.

There is no need for a script or to buy RGP maker VX.

I am a newbie and for some newbies that listens to people that seem to have an understanding of things would buy a script or buy VX.

Wrong choice of helping I think. There is at all no need for a script.

I tried typing a long sentence inside the show choices event and found out that with 4 senteces it looks like the textbox. There was my confusion...

Suppose I had followed his suggestions?

Well I have solved it.

I really understand the suggestion to let someone make a script but putting that to a newb is a bit strange. sorry to say.

At least it motivated me to look further ;)

Regards and thnx for the answers
