How do you even make outlines that messy? Like not meaning insult here I just don't know how it's possible for them to be splattered so much.

You're not using MSpaint which is evidenced by the gradient of shading, yet you have these outlines that are so jagged and pixelly that MSpaint would have a hard time imitating such on its own.

I think if you tried using a more pencil like brush you might get more of a streamlined look, i've used some pixelly brushes before and from what I can tell you using a binary brush with a noise or fuzzystatic stroke.

Try pen with a circular or fine brush, not to say your style is bad, but if you'd like to know how to make smoother outlines i'm giving you a chance to open yourself up to the world of brushes for offer on your program (which I assume is Sai).

As others have been saying, your anatomy isn't all that good yet, but in your defence anatomy is one of the biggest challenges an artist will face and perfecting it can take years, I myself still struggle endlessly with it.

Yeah.

I drew nipples but decided to remove them.

Tight area around boobs is actually on purpose as some like it that way and there is no shame in practicing.

Yeah I started to make cleaner lines recently. I have two pieces made with "cleaner lines" online.

One of them has "mature content" so I don't directly link it here as moderators would probably appreciate that.

Anyway here is my Deviant Art page. http://clord124.deviantart.com/

Line shakiness can be corrected by setting Stabilizer in SAI higher. But, line shakiness is also a beginner thing, too. The best thing to overcome shaky lines is to try to draw lines in single, somewhat fast strokes. The segment concerning lines and line quality in this tutorial are also a decent guideline to follow.

Clord, you could probably do better with using a thinner brush, too. Actually, I'm wondering if you have your pressure sensitivity is detected on the tablet. The lines I'm seeing in your work are generally produced when the pressure sensitivity isn't working/working without a tablet.

Also, if you're having trouble with figure drawing, give Andrew Loomis' Figure Drawing For All Its Worth a look. Page 19 has some general guidelines for proportions, but in general, this is one thing that helped me with figure drawing. Loomis has a few other books if you're interested as well.

You might try checking out the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, which is generally regarded as a great resource for many beginner artists. You could probably find a copy in a used book store for just a few dollars - they may even have versions online :)

I'm quite beat. I developed those drawing skills in less than a week.

But you know, I plan to push forward. It is so rewarding and not to mention addicting to draw.

Thanks for the suggestion Pocketmole. :)

I'm going to give you a piece of advice that someone gave me a long time ago, but it seriously changed art for me.

Practice drawing lines. Straight lines, curved lines, circles and zigzags. Do continuous lines that curve and swirl, and practice them until they look almost perfect. Once you have more control over lines, then you can get into more complex shapes (such as objects or people).

Being able to draw lines well is going to make you feel like your art has improved dramatically. You'll still need time and practice to learn other stuff (like anatomy, which can be tricky even after years of practice), but line control will really help. :)

Ooh, a reply from Lunarea! :)

Yeah, I know what you mean, I should just spend some more time to do random lines.

I'm already seeing improvement in my line drawing, look at that hair!

I'm also feeling that I'm starting to get head to be more like "anime head" if that makes any sense to anybody lol.

So much improvement in such a short time, that's impressive.

Keep up the trend!

I have a very strong 3D visualization skill.

Well, that doesn't make much sense unless I explain.

I can essentially see vivid images conjured by my head if I really try. Even hallucinations.

It is not just a still image, it is as if it was in a real world but it all happens in my imagination.

This causes especially my dreams to be very "real" like if it was a real world to the point that I have managed to feel pain.

I can even make new beings in my head. areas and more. Then move around in that space.

Seconded! This is an excellent book, one my high school art teacher used in our Drawing class. I wish i'd been taught this kind of stuff much earlier; I feel like i'd be much further along if my previous art education had taught us more than gluing construction paper together.

Hiruma the PURGE Templar.

Those who are PURGE Templars answer directly to Council of Kings and is their most elite force above of their royal armies. Only a select few can attain such position.

A net improvement!

but for the hand I advise you to check how low the hand it is in comparaison with your face

also did you use Form Skull? before drawing your character?

I drew head with pencil and then after that made another layer to add hair once I had done some clothing work.

I already do check my hand plus online sources about hand shapes. ;)

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
