I’m looking to create an “enemy respect/fear system” for a project, it’s kind of vital to the game idea so I can’t really do the project without it. I tend to create and share a lot of custom resources when I work on projects, so if I could get the help I need to make it work I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from it.
If you’ve played Final Fantasy XIII you might have seen the Eidolon boss battles where you have to, for lack of a better explanation, earn the respect of the boss rather than kill it. If not, maybe look it up on YouTube to see the sort of thing I'm talking about.
The idea is similar, here's the idea....
Each enemy has a unique respect and/or fear variable stat, like their HP MP and TP, it can also work with them as the same gauge. And each has a thing or set of things that they fear or respect. When an actor does something that the enemy respects, their respect gauge increases, once it passes a certain point or fills completely the enemy may leave and give an item, gain or lose a state, turn a switch on or off or change a variable. The fear gauge would either be separate or simply the negative state of the same gauge.
For example: Enemy “Bush Mimi” “Respects those who buff their allies” and “Fears the element of fire” if an actor uses a buffing ability on an ally then the bush mimi’s respect will increase, but if the ally uses fire, regardless of how, to attack, to buff or toheal, then the bush mimi’s fear will increase, or their respect will decrease, depending on whether the fear gauge is a separate thing or not.
Ideally this would be set up through notetags, and the enemies could still be killed as normal.
I’ve seen plugins that do similar things to what I need, but not quite what I need. Does anyone know a set of plugins or eventable systems that could pull this off? And if not could anyone write a plugin that could do this. If necessary I would be happy to commission it if it sounds like a lot of work.
