it might not be an issue, its more, you have a typo
some somewhere or missing something to be readed
correctly from the event or parallel you use.

double check the event where you use it and helpfile
to see what went wrong.

keep in mind that some are case sensitive or require a a comma or CL in front
if you didn't change parameters.

I want a FF1/DQ style fog-of war effect, and so far the only way I have managed to get this to work has been to add conditional checks on all of my doors that turn on the lights of one ID and off the lights of another ID depending on which direction the player faces as they open the door. This works well enough, but it feels inelegant and has me editing events across 250 hours of map design. At first I thought I could just do it with regionID checks, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Currently Community Lighting is the only plug-in I am running.

Edit: I think really I just want confirmation that using regions to control the lights isn't a simple or good idea.

2. I'm trying to make my character start with no light until he grabs the flashlight but removing radius/brightness from plugin command "Light radius" will also remove it from the flashlight.

Update: i removed the the annoying timer. I had an event set to show it (i dont remember why i was adviced to add this event in the first place).

1. I though the clock was supposed to be off by default. Well you can turn it off with a plugin command...unless something has changed.
2. Setting it to 0 in the plugin params is the right approach. You just have to add the radius again along with the flashlight (set the radius first, then flashlight. I think that'll work, anyway. it's been awhile)

1. I downloaded the newest version (4.6) and it has that timer. I was using a much older version before.
2 This didnt work. It gives me the circle radius (which i dont want) and my flashlight is blinking rapidly.

Tonight I realized that community lighting mz is making it so i cannot save game, autosaves fail as well. if i disable the plugin before playtesting, it allows me to save the game. anyone else ever heard of this issue?!?

edit: solution:
i narrowed it down to the <cl: fire 200 b100 #FEBC00 night>'s i had running on the map. if any of these are going... attempts to save will fail. not sure why, i tried turning the plugin off in the event, resetting lights, assigning the lights an ID and turning those off, etc, but nothing worked. i made a common event that stores where you are on the map, and transfers you out to a different map with nothing on it to save, then teleports you back to the map where you were at.

I seem to be having a problem getting elliptical lights working, I thought maybe it was me somehow messing up the syntax, but I copy-pasted the example elliptical light example from the GitHub notes and that didn't work either.

Ok, I have sick brain--so this may be a really stupid question AND it may have already been answered:

I'm building a game that doesn't use the player--you click around the screen. I want to make it more interesting by adding your lighting, but I'm either stuck with the light around the player, expanding that light radius to the point that you can't see any of the other lights, OR pitch black darkness no matter which setting I toy with. How do I make it like in your demo where it's generally just kiiiind of dim on the map so that you can see the light events while still seeing the rest of the map?

*Edit* I done tooked a nap and then attacked the thread pages again and sorted it out.

Can we please get self light plugin commands, I really stress having to configure the IDs when I could be making hundreds of changes to maps on events etc.

Is it possible to change the lighting circle around the character to off when entering houses and such. I want the dark radius around the player in dungeons and caves but not houses. And is there a weather system integrated in this? That would be just crazy nice :) Sorry if i missed the answer to this question somewhere, I did look lol Thank you kindly for the plugin.

If you are using MZ, it might be worth updating your profile to say you primarily use MZ. Currently it says MV.

If you are using MZ, it might be worth updating your profile to say you primarily use MZ. Currently it says MV.
But I was asking about the community lighting plugin's timer.

And when I created this account I was using mv and when I moved to mz I couldn't change to mz in the forum. Now I can. Thanks!

Hello, what is the simple way to update the lightmask instantly instead of for each new area entered ? (i'm trying to make it work with the resolution plugin, it works but the lightmask stays in the same size until area change). i put the stuff in prototype.update function.

Hello everyone...

I found this plugin Community Lightning MZ that seems to be great for lighting effects and day/night cycle, and it's also free. Thanks to the author.

However, I have an issue with the day/night management. There is a black overlay that puts us in the dark, which is great, but during the day it doesn't fade away as it should.

Here are the settings I have:

Sorry to come back with another (probably really simple) question, but does the Beam Width line in the flashlight entry in the plugin commands not actually do anything for anyone else using MZ?

^this. Please can someone please give us a way to turn off the player radius from the start? It can be turned off with an Event on the map but it cant be turned on again with a Common Event.

I can't pick the region ID for regionblocking from a variable or direct game data reference, can I?


Edit: Figured it out, now have fully working fog of war, thank you for the awesome plugin.
