So idk what i'm doing wrong here with the conditional branch?

What's supposed to happen is that you can't cross the threshold until you have the item found in your house

But the event erases whether you have the item in the inventory or not...

I'm wondering if there's another step I'm missing, as in RMVX, and older I never really had to add anything.

Hi!
It sounds to me that the 2nd page of the event is not marked with Self SWITCH A.
Can you show the 2nd page of the event for us?

You actually don't need the conditional branch in the page itself. You can set the item as a condition on the left side of that screen.

Like:
event page 1 -> whatever happens when you DON'T have the item.

event page 2 -> has the item condition set and whatever happens when you DO have the item.

event page 3 -> the blank page with self switch A to end the event permanently.

Also, are you saying the event runs once and then never again, or that the event never runs at all?

The event runs once, and regardless of the item being in my inventory or not, I am able to pass the event.

I tried it the way you suggested and it worked!

You just blew my mind, i never knew it could be THAT simple!

The second page is just the control switch being active and nothing scripted in the event.

Awesome! Don't know why it wasn't working the other way. I might be overlooking something or maybe it's just one of those weird engine quirks.

O. M. G.
It didn't work because I never selected an 'else' branch...

I had all my other conditionals set up with it but must have forgotten in this one -_- . It's not an option in older versions.

It's been an option in every version. But in MV (and maybe Ace?) it was enabled by default. In older versions you had to go in and check the Else branch to make it appear.

But still ... if you didn't have an Else branch, self switch A should not have been turned on if you didn't have the item.

Sorry, I meant to put it in quotes as "Option".

I've just been using the other method though as it works for directing characters away from roadblocks and into scenes.

I feel like the conditional branch is so archaic now for what I was using it for! haha

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
