Conditionally replacing Attack

Swap Attack for Another Skill...

Okay, this is interesting...

In my game one of the things is, when using a bow or gun as a weapon, I don't want people to use "Attack" because (in my game) "Atk" is "Strength"

I want bows to use a Skill called "Shoot" which uses "Agi" (Dexterity)

Mechanically the two skills are different, one uses Strength opposed by Defense, the other uses Dexterity opposed by Dexterity.

I already have the Shoot skill done.

Currently I just have the Bow seal the Attack Skill, and then unseals the Archery skill set, which has Shoot in it.

Is there a script I can write that simply replaces Attack with Shoot when a bow is equipped? Thank you.

What I did was, using my scripts, disabled attack altogether for party so it doesn't even appear.

Now add a skill type to the actor or class called "Attack" or whatever you want

Now you can create a skill Attack for each weapon, or weapon type.

When you equip the weapon, have the weapon "Add Skill" whichever skill you want to use as attack.

With this, you can use whatever fomula you choose for the skill added.

There are a few scripts out there that disable attack, so look around for one that fits your game.

I've tried to add skill, numerous times, but it never works on equip. Ever. How would I even get it into the main window rotation?

Edit: I can get it to add skill to like, a skill set, but I mean I can't get it to add to the primary window. Or do I have to disable attack for that?

Actually Deilin, I think it might be a matter of RPGMaker VX Ace not wanting to allow me to add a 5th skill to the basic wheel. It'll only display 4... I wonder if I can change that.

Important to know about skills. If you want a skill to work, it must have a type (Otherwise only monsters can use it) and the character needs the SKILL TYPE of that skill. So if you have Shoot, it should have type 'Attack' and then the character should also get 'skill type attack'. This will cause it to show up in the menu as a sub option of attack.

Also yeah I found the script referenced above. That fixed the issue in a heartbeat.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
