Hello,

Newb here, trying to make my first map with a parallax background.

I am having a few issues -

The background does not seem to move along with the player (I thought that was the point).

Also, what I see in the editor does not seem to match with the rendered game -

In the editor, the end of the grassy area that the player can walk on matches up with the "bottom" of the mountain parallax background. On the rendered game, all the player can see is the sky.

Editor:

Rendered game:

Capture2.PNG

All the tutorials I see are complicated - makes me think I am missing some basic knowledge here?

Put an exclamation (!) prefix on its filename.

It will bind the parallax image to the map.

You're welcome.

That is exactly what "Parallax" means - a parallax never matches the player movement.
Which is why the help file calls the ! mentioned above as the way to "disable the parallax".

And even with the ! in the filename, it still might not match up if you have your picture in the wrong size. Without the parallax it still repeats if the size is wrong. That is something you can get with a few experiments and calculations however, just ask if you have more problems.

So basically, I want the character to move to the northern part of the map, and then be able to see the mountain part of the parallax background as in the screenshot of the editor that I posted above.

However, when the game is rendered, all I can get is for the blue sky part of the background to be visible.

I'm not sure what to do. Thank you.

then the size of the parallax and the map do not fit together.

Parallax picture size in pixel = map size in tiles multiplied by 48 (pixel per tile)

If you follow this size relation, then the parallax in the editor will show up exactly where it will show up in the game.
If your sizes do not follow that equation, then the two parts will be off against each other.

So what is the size of the parallax in pixel and what is the size of the map in tiles?

Yes, and we have already answered that question.
- Open your game folder\img\parallaxes.
- Find that mountain image.
- Change its file name by adding an exclamation symbol "!" as the prefix.

- Open your map property then choose the parallax image that you have changed its name.
- Voila! Now your in game map should have looks like what you see in the editor!

Have you tried it? Because that's the solution. Please confirm it first.
Again, you're welcome...

Works fine with the exclamation mark.

Thank you for the help.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
