I've used RPG Maker a lot, and really like how it works.  But I was considering delving into something other than RPGs.  On the pages for IG Maker, it says export to Flash or XNA.  Are those the only export options?  Or will it also create a Windows EXE?  How about an HTML5 game?  And how does IG Maker stack up to something like Construct 2 or GameMaker:Studio in terms of using it?

I just got IG maker and trust me i do not think it is worth it. Game maker studios is way easier to use than that.

unless you know how to do a ton of scripting and know how to work with programs that are dominantly run by scripts

then do not get IG maker.

i disagree, IG maker is more complex then most game makers out there. Ig maker has really hard to understand Menu system, but its able to do more then people actually believe cause they don't sit on their ass on just give it a chance. they want making a game to be "EASY". who said making a game was ever easy? yea it doesn't come with good resources of its own( other than the samples you can download) but that's the whole point, Make your own game, with your own resources, with your own ideas, and in time results can be satisfactory.

yea so what IG maker doesn't have ruby or any scripting system. i say Frick that with IG maker, IG maker really doesn't need ruby with all the tools on options you can do with it

Agree to disagree.

I suggest not using it first without having prior knowledge of game creating

by prior knowledge i mean A LOT of prior knowledge.

not saying this is impossible but you can make the same game easier with a

different program.

I agree with the above post... IG Maker is certainly good and has lots of possibilities as Zan said, but one thing about these programs that give you lots of possibilities are that you also need prior knowledge to do good things with it and utilize it's capacities...

So as Noah said, it's better to start out with a simpler to use program then eventually you can try out IG maker...

in time results can be satisfactory.
That's the major point, in time... Most beginner's doesn't have that luxury of time, so they're better off with simpler progs then transfer to this more powerful (and also more tedious to use) tools...

But if you have the luxury of time, then by all means use these progs...

It all comes down to time, after all a good game most probably requires a lot more of your time than others...

I may still get it.  I am familiar with some other applications for this type of development, such as GameMaker from YoYo Games (can be very code intensive) and Construct 2 from Scirra.  But the question of available platforms is still up in the air.  Will it only do Flash and XNA (which is discontinued) games, or can it do Windows EXE files as well?  I doubt HTML5 would be available, although it'd be swell if it were...

IG Maker will export the game to a Windows EXE, it creates the EXE and a few data files.  No installation is required, you can just copy the files to the target pc and run them (it does require DX9 to installed).    As for IG Maker's ease of use, it's not suited for someone just starting out that want's to make quick games, but if you're willing to learn the program you can do some really cool stuff with it.

I see a couple of people saying to start on an easier program.  Which easier program would people recommend and suggest? Surely it can't be any harder to use than GameMaker...  Or Torque 2D for that matter...

its a nice engine but its also a 10x harder then game maker, its confusing but like i said before in time you could make a successful game.

to put it simply, IG make is NOT beginner friendly. it has so many options and tools that make it hard enough.

If it is not too late, I just bought the $49.99 GAmemaker and it came with no icons or tiles. You have to find your own.

IG Maker is difficult to start andrequires setting up the icons and tiles.  So does GM though not as much to decide.

Game maker spends a lot of time making things before you can do anything.

I think IG Maker will be much better after I learn it. It does take a long time to learn due to the lack of information out there.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
