Constant crashes RPG Maker MV

I just purchased RPG Maker MV for OSX, Im running on a mac pro.


Ive been getting constant crashes in the editor ever since I installed the program. The crashes normally occur when I'm editing variables, event commands and plug-in commands. The crashes occur whether or not I have plug-ins installed. The crashes occur so randomly and frequently, that it would be impossible for me to actually make a game with this program. Is there something I can do to fix this? Im not running anything memory heavy in the background and also I did buy this off of Steam, if that has something to do with it. I know sometimes Steam can make programs pretty buggy.

Are you by any chance moving around the program too fast? I noticed MV crashes on me when I click too many things in quick succession.

There are several people on this forum that use MV on MacOS without problems - your post is the first I read about "constant crashes".


That means it is something on your computer that causes the problems, and we need more data to find out what the cause is.


Can you please give more details on your computer? Like exact OSX version, a hardware report and so on?


EDIT: Or it might be what Archeia mentions - haven't heard of that one, but I'm not the fastest worker either ;-)

3.2 ghz quad-core xeon


10 gb ram


ati radeon hd 5770 10024 mb


Maybe I have something else interfering with the program, I don't have many add ons installed though and I only have safari and Steam open while running. Is there any known apps that mess with the program?


I do move around the program pretty fast and Ive noticed it seems to crash less if I right click and select things rather than double clicking, but the crashes happen when Im editing events. They happen less often without plugins installed, but they're still frequent enough to make it difficult to get much done.

Try updating to the latest version of El Capitan.  Apple is currently at 10.11.3 and you are running 10.11.1.


If you still experience crashes use Disk Utility in your Applications > Utilities folder to see if you have any disk / directory issues.


Also try another user to see if issue persists there.  This could help narrow down to Mac OS X, MV, or your user.
