Yeah, but you should know that Americans have sometimes a hard time acknowledging that the rest if the world (which is only 5.75 billions persons) does not live in their timezones @staff, maybe next time a "contest" is time based, the closing time should be defined with the relevant timezone (EST, CET, GMT...)

That's not it at all.  It's not an arrogance thing, just a different emphasis in what's considered normal or polite.  Here in the US we assume that the time is going to be based on the zone of the person setting up the event or posting or whatever.  Since the US has 9 different time zones we never assume that a posted time is in our on zone.  We'd be wrong nearly all the time.  I think this one was a fluke though, usually the staff is pretty good at posting the ending time with a time zone and everything.

I never said it was arrogance, just that it happens sometimes. I have been working a lot (professionally) with the US, and more than once, was asked for meetings at 5am, or 11 pm because the owner forgot to take in consideration we were not all US based.

I actually assumed when reading initially Touchfuzzy's post that it would be EST zone
