I have created the following map:

The Conveyor Belt effect is evented. What I want is to have a similar effect but also be able to walk around and turn. Is there a way to do it? Preferably without scripts.

Ahh, Chrono Trigger memories... <3

I think we'll need to see the exact events you're using for the belt, but I'm thinking a conditional branch based on whether the directional keys are pressed is where you need to look.

Ok, Chrono Trigger. This. Ever since I involved myself with RM, I hear about it. I must download it sometime.

The event is fairly simple; I just tell the character to turn off walking animation, turn on direction fix, move left a number of steps and at the end move up and return to normal. I experimented A LOT with eventing, but either it didn't work, or the result was unsatisfactory. The only reason I have it simple like that, is for display.

This worked for me:

Player is still able to move, but keeps going into a certain direction (in this case, left). However, remember to have this parallel process event set to the second event page, with the first being player touch and turning on a switch. Set the second page's condition to this switch. At the end of the conveyer belt, add an event and set to player touch, and make it turn off that switch.

@Celianna thank you very much for your input. The problem is that, like in my tries, the player lags a little bit after each step. And he looks like is kinda gliding, instead of walking.

You're not going to get around the 'lag' you describe, that's RPG Maker executing the command and having the player be unable to do anything during that brief period where the player is forced to move left.

However, about the gliding thing, are you sure you didn't turn off stepping animation by accident?

That's a pity then... Thank you, though!

Or you can do the honorable, and preferable thing, if you have a DS - buy it. The DS version is markedly superior to the SNES and the Playstation version. (Basically, there was the SNES version, then the Playstation rerelease with added goodies like fully animated cutscenes and such, and then the DS version came with even MORE goodies, like an extra, bonus ending and a few new areas to explore...)

Well, I suppose it's perfectly possible to recreate the game in its entirety in RPG Maker, but why would you? All that would earn you is a lawsuit that would ruin you from the age of the dinosaurs until the end of time... ;)

Fix that now, it's one of the best JRPGs ever
Fixed. ;)

But srsly, I don't think there's ever been a more perfectly paced JRPG, the narrative is pretty much perfect, the characters are strong and believable... basically, if I have to complain about a single thing in the game, it'd probably have to be the silent protagonist thing; the main character doesn't say a single word. A small thing, but... :p

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
