I know parallaxes are used to add a little more life to scenes, but I've found you can use them in the maker as a quick-cheat way for making maps. Simply set set up the map you want as a parallax in the resource manager, and when you make a map, set it to visible. Then you can just trace over it, and disable the parallax when you're done. It's much easier than trying to draw a map freehand, especially a big field map.
