Since I haven't seen a thread about this yet, I want to know is is possible to have it so that a player/monster can counter an attack before the damage is dealt? To make it easier to understand, I have a monster attack the player, now the turn before the player used a skill so that they would counter the next attack. when the monster attacks the player the player counters before the monster deals damage.

I'm not sure if it's a script I'm using or not, but that's exactly how counters work in my project.

I almost wish the counter would come after damage as it would improve balancing for me a bit.

The way how counters work by default is that the person using the counter does not take damage at all. It's an evade/ parry then counter attack. To change that you would need a script or maybe mess around with the base scripts (not recommended if you're new to scripting). To counter attack with a specific skill you would need a script for that also, otherwise it'll stay as the basic "Attack" for the counter.

Well....for that, that's how counters work by default. The counter-er does not take damage at all.

Make the skill apply a state to the user that increases counter by 100% for 1 turn.  No script required.
