I recently got 2003 on steam after trying around the VX Ace demo and while its more limited i also enjoy the more classic aesthetic, so i wanted to ask some questions about it

is there any way to make the title screen option's dialogue box to be entirely invisible?

As you can see here, my background already has an ornamet for the options, so the transparent box just looks bad
can i edit the system tileset in a way it doesn't look like that? or is there another way?

and that brings the other question...

How much am I allowed to legally alter parts of the game using "mods" or "patches", while still being allowed to monetize the game? I want to be able to receive donations (it that ever happens) so i want to stick by the rules but also embellish my game as much as possible too and it has been pretty confusing trying to figure out what is and what is not allowed

There is a special "Patch-EULA" somewhere around this site that was written exactly to handle the legality of fan-made patches, especially patches that were made with the pirated versions.

Please read it yourself, I don't have all details. But basically a patch can only be legal if the patchwriter owns a legal copy of RM2K, and by using a patch the game developer accepts that he can no longer demand support from Degica.
That last part is simply because if a patch (written by unknown programmers based on pirated code) damages the engine itself, Degica cannot take responsibility for repairs.

I checked the EULA, i must say, that's pretty flexible and customer friendly, thanks for the info

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
