recently I have started to try and get RPG MAKER XP working again on my old laptop; it's an old one, with windows vista basic on it, and I did manage to get it installed propperly, however, once I start up the program itself it immediately crashes and no longer works. Windows immediately shuts it down and I have no idea what to do; can anybody help?

I will try to get any information to you if you need any more specific data.

Did you reinstall it completely?

What are the compatibility settings?

Which Service Pack is installed for Vista? (the first versions had a lot of problems, Vista only works correctly if you've updated to the last SP)

I have completely reinstalled it several times but that didn't help, and I did switch the compatability mode to Windows XP service pack 2, I even set it to "run as administrator"

I don't think I have a service pack installed, my harddrive is pretty much full which is why I'm trying to run it from a separate hard-drive that I connect via USB.

Vista should have automatically installed the service packs if you have it set for automated updates and an internet connection. If not, then that update to the newest SP will solve a lot of Vista's native problems.

If your Harddrive is that full, the problem might be that it has not enough space remaining for the virtual RAM file that is needed by Windows. Try to deinstall programs and move data to external drives until you have enough space on your main HDD to install that SP and keep at least 1-2 GB free for temporary files. You might want to clear your browser cache, that is usually several GB of data if you didn't restrict that.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
