I'm excited for whatever you make! :) Perhaps you could make more monster sprites and item icons eventually? I'm curious to see if you can make curved cave and cliff walls, but whatever takes your fancy!

Thank you for the ladders and ropes, and that farmer looks good.
Curvy stuff would most likely be a extra addition for when the main stuff is done, I'd say. Not high on my priority list but noted : >

Monsters are always such a thing. In the end you'd mostly go for all the generic things, which are nice for a start but there are only so many xD

I'd like to go creative with them once I got the generic ones out of the way~

Dat spider has a shiny butt. I approve. (everything else also rocks but you know, that goes without saying).

Gah...  quit amazing me!  :p

Here are some ideas on what to make:

  • tiles to turn caves into mines (maybe even have mineral nodes to go with the icons)
  • more town/farm village/city stuff
  • status effect icons (dark and light elements are missing)
  • castle tiles
  • custom shadows to use with the tiles (regular rpg maker shadows look terrible with the tiles)
  • more of those awesome battlers
  • maybe try to make some simple pixel animations for battle (none exist for rpg maker)
Although, anything you make will be awesome.
Making mine-additions was actually something I did consider to add to the caves x3

Yeah the ingame shadows suck; just put them there because it'd also look weird with completely nothing. But extra-shaded tiles will be added to an extra tile-sheet once the overall tileset, in this case caves for example, are done; so I can release the normal thing and the shadowed editions : >

I like to always have multiple variations.

I try to stay away from in-game batteling stuff for now and first concentrate on more overworld stuff :3

Once I got some more essentials for it, I can concentrate more on battlers and possible animations; for now the battler was just some playing around to see how it might look like :D

The cave looks better and better! But give this poor guy an exit and maybe some clothing? :D

What I would want to see the most, would be monster sprites. Spider is a good start, what else? Rats, Skeletons and Orcs (maybe in two recolors/variants?) would be on top of my list.

And as I already said, stairs for the cliffs would be very useful. It would also be great, if you could make a pitched roof version for all the roofs, not only the thatched roof.

Oh, and the outside entrance to caves/dungeons. I also noticed that the other dungeon tiles you made have no exit? At least the existing doors don't fit that well with this blue-darkish dungeon/temple.
Pfffft.

Clothing and exits are overrated : D

Yeah, I wanted to go through the generic sprites first. Then move on to some mroe creative ones :3

I very much like these new retro tilesets that you are offering up to the general populace. They're very... quaint and unassuming. I have bookmarked this thread so that I can return to it at a later date. Meanwhile, I will congratulate you on creating a veritable palette that also happens to be quite cute. Good job, Crazy_Leen. Your resources are indeed very crazy.

As I announced last time, I changed the template size and its pieces now (goddamnit such annoying work, just pushing them around and re-color them, urgh X.x) Again, I'm sorry that I even chaged it up, but I think it's a bit easier now to work with them, especially when it comes to head-things.

So here is the update-log:

> All pieces have been updated + new generator-pieces have been added ( strawhat, overall )
> Human NPCs have been updated + they are now seperated aka are on single sheets now.
> I began making an Outside-Castle-Tileset


If you excuse me now; I've been workin hours on this, mostly because of mistakes I made when updating the generator-things

Just wondering, the second image under Templates seems broken? Does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, it's because I deleted the old NPC picture, when inserting all the new stuff.

But guess what?
The new stuff is not there! I forgot to update the post when I was finished!

Castle tiles are looking good. I think, it could use a small shadow on the left of the right ehm.. border as well as the top one? Ich mein, die Zinnenumrahmung, die rechte senkreichte Reihe.

Das Problem war, dass mir halt leider der Platz ausgegangen ist x'D

Alternative wäre, dass ich entweder die reihe NOCHMAL etwas schmäler mache (was aber bekloppt ausgesehen hätte; links entweder dann das Highlight weglassen hätte müssen, oder links doe Outline weglassen hätte müssen.

Sehr, sehr tricky.

Ich hab aber mittlerweile die Idee gehabt, einfach das "Bodentile" von dem Ding (also quasi die Mitte) etwas umzuschichten, sodas die dunklere outline davon links ist, und somit indirekt nen Schatten geben könnte (falls das iwie klar is?).

Das sind halt echt so die kniffligeren Sachen x'D Die verdammte Zinne hat mich eh ne Menge Nerven gekostet, weils halt nciht so geht wie ich wollte.

And sorry Q___Q

I know it sucks when suddendly the size is changed... but it was needed and better now than later, when more stuff is available T_T

What exactly changed with the templates (so I know how to modify my own creations using the template)?
The size.

You can download a new template and see for yourself; I re-positioned them.

Beside the re-position though, only the turban got generally updated, so it's not as flat anymore

I was wondering how you created your retro-set? I mean it have a zoomed look, how is this possible?

Secondly, can you make some parallax backgrounds to match your retro tiles? It's a just a suggestion not needed but may be someone would require it though.

I know the answer to the first one!  You create the tiles with the image size at half the normal then double the image size when you're done.  In other words, you draw 16x16 tiles and size them up to 32x32 tiles after they're drawn.

Anyway,'nother update~

Was working on some guys that actually are  warching the big gap in the walls : D

There are two helmet variations, a simple and the one you see with a little detail, and both have a version with and without the fancy, red, feather stuff on it~ Also some banners, to make the walls less boring, as well as flag-poles; too bad there's no wind right now, huh °3°~

I finally wanted to make those nice bush-figures you see in fancy parks :o
And since this will be a castle, they would fit in perfectly : >

Succesfully finished a quest of saving my kitty who fell from a wall!

Final sprint for me, although a long one. If everything goes well, I'll graduate by the end of the year. Then I'll have to take the Bar classes and exams (4 months), then I'm off to practicing law (as an intern for 6 months, paid of course, then I'll be a full fledged attorney).
I think there is something wrong with my cat. He is acting CATatonic.
