It's tempting, but I just take a break from my current project and keep those pesky ideas in a notebook. :3

This has happened to me on several occasions but I have had no such thoughts while working on my current project so I figure that this project will last awhile I should at least be able to do more on this than any of my other projects.

I use a notepad. When I'm bored of work, ideas come easily, so I write them down, fantasize about it, draw a cute heroine, then go back to my main project. Works like a charm.

I am a matchstick. I light up instantly... and die just as fast.

I stayed that way for months.. until I learned about candlesticks xD

I tend to get bored and quite for a while, then go back to it. I have many projects going at once, mostly taking place in the same couple of worlds.

Happens to me all the time. Got dozens of unfinished, barely started games lying around. I eventually delete those kind of games and concentrate on my main project.

The secret to complete a project (without getting bored) is to not overdo it, know your limits, work on it regularly, and for god's sake "if it's your first project, start with something short and as simple as possible".

Most of the time I don't have the time to do anything for my game. And when I do, I don't want to do anything (I'm too tired or something and just want to sleep or watch something). My game mostly advances by procrastination (I have an urgent job, so I do instead something for my game, then start making the job).

Life sucks,

I might go off and take some breaks and play some other games, but I always go back to working on my project.

I've had many projects over the past. I managed to start over and focus on a single one, however, and I'm very proud of myself for that, hahah.

Happens a lot with me, trying to stay focused on a specific game project at the moment. When I have a new Idea I just quickly jot it down in a journal I have right next to me. Then during my lectures (which I can't use my laptop in) I'll proceed to work on the idea there.

I do! I sometimes write down new ideas for RPG's I wish to create while tinkering with "Ages of Agony" :3

It's confusing and annoying sometimes, because I loose focus, but I still love it since some of the ideas are really good! :D

I used to have this a ton; not only with RPG's, but game projects in general. What solved it for me was to never actually start working with the project on my computer before I had spent a lot of time sketching and writing down ideas for the game, on paper. And then, when I felt ready to begin working on it, I let it sit there for a week or two, and come back to it. If I didn't feel like continuing the project at this point, I'd just let it sit until I eventually did, or I used its ideas for a new project I felt more like working with.

So now I have two games; one is a platformer made with my own engine in Flash, and the other is the RM RPG game I'm working on. The platform game is on my backburner, but it's a "simpler" (at least story and gameplay wise) game than my main RPG project. When I come up with new game ideas I sketch some and write some, and let it sit there, but more often than not elements of them fit perfectly into my current projects.

All the time. Sometimes in the space of a day I'll have started and scrapped two or three projects. The trouble is they see so interesting at the time, the best game ever, and then you go to code it and hit a snag and suddenly it doesn't seem such a good idea any more.

Then other projects will last three years and onwards. Weird. I guess they're the ones that work. Doesn't stop me starting other projects while that one's still going though. I guess that's how RPG Maker works!

Often. Sometimes while working on a project, a new idea comes in mind, but doesnt work in the current project.

So i start a new one, and forgot the other. Its sometimes really frustrating, but its fun to work on a new story.

Not really unless I'm stuck on a certain aspect of a game that I make a new one just to break monotony or I can't bypass. Then I make a new one to actually learn some skills and knowledge that Game A requires. Otherwise, not really.

A tip though is to write your idea. Let it sit down and sleep for the night and see if you still want to work on it.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
