Hi! I'm new here and this is my first message ever on this forum =).

If I wanted to make an ordinary, non-RPG, platform game with RPG Maker MV, what would be the most simple way to go about doing this?

Details:

I'm not that bright when it comes to programing games but I found RPG Maker MV easy and thats why I use it instead of other programs like GameMaker. I have already done a map with a puzzle where the character have to solve the puzzle to continue. But I have no need for health and magic bars. I just want a start menu and then the game. I don't want the in-game menu with different stats, places for characters and other thing that belongs in a RPG. Can I get rid of this in-game menu so the game I'm making looks lite an ordinary platform game?

!! Update !!

My question has be kind of answered in another thread. One can use Basic Menu - http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=38496 - to hide RPG related data like character stats and so on. It's not exactly what I'm looking for, but it's pretty good substitute. =) I also know now that one can use Event Commands to disable menu - totaly. The problem with this is that you can't exit the game, because the exit option is also disabled. :-S This can perhpas be fixed with Yanfly's Picture Common Events plugin or Dekyde's Map Buttons plugin.

In MV, all menues can be disabled in the database - just uncheck it in the system tab.

More detailed changes can be done with plugins, but those need to be programmed to the wanted specifications.

However, for a true platformer you'll need something like gravity - and to my knowledge there is no such script or plugin yet.

There is one for Ace, but it wasn't very popular and I don't think that there is any rush to convert it to MV...

Use the Eventcommand disable Menu Acess at the start of your Game, than you dont have one.

You still can use the show Keyitem List  Command if you need some Items.

It is possible to make such a thing, however it would most likely be a bit clunky. I'd recommend checking out some other game engines. In MV, you'd need a plugin and such plugins aren't very popular, so you'd have to write it yourself or hire a scripter.

My platform game will have the same perspective as RPG games. My game will be like the Lolo games :).

I have tried to turn of different menu commands in System but the character info is still present. I tried turning classes to zero but got an error message when I started the game. If there was a way to change the content of classes I could perhaps get the look I want.

And to all of you - thanks for the quick answers!

an actor needs a class to be set for it, so you'll need at least one class - but you can remove the name from it if that is what troubles you.

also, when you remove actors from the database make sure that they're also deleted from the atarting party (system tab of the database).

And as said above, you can completely block menu access by an event command at start of your game, or use a plugin to change what is displayed in any still active menu.

Thanks for the information. If anybody else are looking for the setting you are talking about it's under page 3, "Change Menu Access" in Event Commands. Well there you can decide disabled or enabled. This setting require you to find another way to save and exit the game. Thanks again for the advice!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
